Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has achieved another box office milestone.

After topping the box office for four weeks, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has reached $200 million domestically in its fifth week, becoming the first film to do so during the pandemic. The feat was achieved on Thursday evening, as Shang-Chi's first real competition hit theaters with Venom: Let There be Carnage.

To date, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has broken three major records: third-best opening day of the pandemic, third biggest pandemic era debut and highest-grossing domestic film during the pandemic. Along with breaking records, Shang-Chi has also maintained the top spot at the box office for the past four consecutive weekends, a feat it shares with only two other Marvel Studios films: Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy. Unfortunately, that streak looks ready to end as Venom: Let There be Carnage sinks its teeth into the box office this weekend.

The film also set another record for this year when it hit $100 million domestically in just five days, making it the shortest amount of time it has taken a film to reach $100 million this year, beating out Black WidowShang-Chi recently surpassed the fellow Marvel Studios film starring Scarlett Johansson to become the top-grossing release of the pandemic era in North America. While Black Widow has ended its theatrical run with $183.4 million domestically and $379 million worldwide, Shang-Chi continues to chug along. Unlike Black Widow, of course, Shang-Chi was an exclusive theatrical release and won't receive a home release until November.

As it stands, Shang-Chi is nearing $370 million at the global box office. With a China release unlikely, it remains to see just how high the Marvel Studios film will go, but it has another month before it hits home media.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as the titular hero, as well as Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Tony Leung, Fala Chen and Michelle Yeoh. It was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script by Dave Callaham. The film is currently playing in theaters.
