In honor of Asian Heritage Month, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu has called upon people to celebrate Asian heroes from both Marvel Comics and DC.On Twitter, Liu shared images of several popular Asian comic book heroes, including Shiro Yoshida/Sunfire, Kong Kenan/Super-Man, Cindy Moon/Silk and Pearl Pangan/Wave. "Join me as we celebrate Asian superheroes this month and ALL months - yes, even the DC ones. Now is not the time for partisan hackery!" The characters shared by Liu have all appeared in recent comic series from Marvel and DC. Other popular Asian heroes not appearing in Liu's tweet include Batgirl/Cassandra Cain, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Amadeus Cho/The Hulk and Jubilee/Jubilation Lee, among others.

Lui is set to play the titular character in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He will appear alongside Awkwafina and Tony Leung, who have both been confirmed for the film. While her role was previously undisclosed, it's been reported that Awkwafina will play the daughter of Leung's the Mandarin.

Filming on Shang-Chi began in February 2020 but was put on hold due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Tony Leung and Awkwafina. The film releases on May 7, 2021.
