During last Thursday's Disney Investor Day, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the Disney+ streaming platform. New trailers for WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki were released, while announcements were made for the upcoming She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel series. On top of that, it was revealed that Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn's shape-shifting Skrull Talos would both return in Secret Invasion.

Based on the comic book event of the same name, Secret Invasion will deal with the Skrulls covertly infiltrating governments and agencies all over the planet. It's unclear how faithful the series will be to the comic, but it's the perfect opportunity to bring Chloe Bennet's Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, into the fold.

2008's Secret Invasion by Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu was an event comic that saw the Skrulls infiltrate all levels of governments and everyday life, even replacing certain superheroes to make it easier for them to take over the world. While the comic book was mainly an Avengers story and featured some of Marvel's biggest superheroes, fans shouldn't expect the series to be on the same scale.

For the time being, all that is known is that Nick Fury and Talos will star in the Disney+ series, which indicates that this version of Secret Invasion could be less of a cataclysmic ensemble event and more of a smaller, more clandestine take on the source material. Since Fury will be one of the main characters, the series will hopefully follow the character's story in the comic series. In Secret Invasion, Nick Fury assembled his own team of young superheroes to fight the Skrulls, the Secret Warriors, which included Daisy Johnson.

For seven seasons, Chloe Bennet starred as Daisy Johnson in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC. The actor proved to be an incredibly faithful adaptation of the character, and she quickly became a fan-favorite all her own. Given that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was produced by Marvel Television, it wasn't technically a part of the MCU -- not as far as the movies were concerned, anyway.

But now, the bridge between Marvel Television and the MCU might be closing. It's being reported that Charlie Cox may return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Spider-Man 3, a film also rumored to include previous Spider-Men played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Since Marvel appears to be willing to bring back actors from previous Marvel films and series -- ones that weren't produced under the Marvel Studios umbrella -- there isn't any reason why Chloe Bennet couldn't reprise her role as Daisy Johnson in Secret Invasion.

To properly reward fans of the long-running ABC series, all Feige and Co. need to do is have Quake play the role she did in the comics in Secret Invasion and for the character to be played by an actor who has already become synonymous with her.

Secret Invasion does not yet have a release date. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg.
