Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors was announced in December as a full-length animated feature focusing on the next generation of Marvel heroes, including Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Ghost-Spider, Quake, America Chavez and Patriot. But ahead of the film's planned release this fall, the young crime-fighters will come together for a series of animated shorts on Disney XD.

Marvel has released the trailer for the six-episode Marvel Rising: Initiation, which centers first on the pursuit of Ghost-Spider, aka Spider-Gwen, who's been framed for murder, and then the effort to clear her name. The first of the four-minute shorts debuts Aug. 13 on Disney XD.

No release date has been announced for the movie, but there's a Marvel Rising panel scheduled for Thursday at Comic-Con International in San Diego, where we can likely expect more news.

Marvel has stated these characters were selected because they represent the "next generation of Marvel heroes for the next generation of Marvel fans." What this means for Marvel's future in movies in TV is anyone's guess, but it seems they already have an idea of what direction they want to go in.

Both Marvel Rising: Initiation and Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors will be released on Disney XD, starring Dove Cameron as Ghost-Spider, Chloe Bennet as Quake, Tyler Posey as Inferno, Kathreen Kavari as Ms. Marvel, Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl, Cierra Ramirez as America Chavez, Kamil McFadden as Patriot, Kim Raver as Captain Marvel, and Bradley Baker as Tippy Toe and Lockjaw.
