Marvel Comics has wrapped its full day of reveals with Chris Bachalo's cover for "Wolverine & the X-Men" #10 written by Jason Aaron with art by Bachalo and Alan Davis' cover for "Secret Avengers" #27 written by Rick Remender with art by Renato Guedes. The news follows a number of updates from the publisher today, including Sara Pichelli's variant cover for "Avengers vs. X-Men" #3, a massive seven page preview of "Avengers vs. X-Men" #1 written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by John Romita Jr. and a press conference call with Bendis, Mark Bagley and Tom Brevoort on "Avengers Assemble."
In 2011, Jason Aaron spoke to the significance of "AvX" to the X-Men, taking into account the events of M-Day. "I think this is something the X-Men have been headed toward since before I got involved," he said. "There were millions of mutants and then one day that number dwindled down to a few hundred because of what Scarlet Witch did." Aaron further explained Hope Summers' role as the "Mutant Messiah" would play a large role in the upcoming event. "She is the mutant messiah. It's not conjecture as far as Cyclops is concerned...coming out of 'Schism,' Cyclops is becoming harder edged. He had a philosophical split with the guy who was his top adviser for so long in Wolverine."
Marvel pulled back the curtain on the first wave of "AvX" covers in January for both the main series and tie-in issues of "Wolverine & the X-Men," "New Avengers," "Avengers" and more.
