WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Moon Knight #2, available now from Marvel.

Moon Knight's return to action has not been an easy one. His presence has not been enough to dismantle the maniacal machinations of his latest nemesis. But as luck would have it, Marc Spector is not without allies. The community he has cultivated through the Midnight Mission has finally revealed just how strong the Moon Knight has become.

Between the various superpowered and supernatural threats he has been facing, it was the otherwise ordinary Zodiac who managed to land the deepest cut by beating Moon Knight within an inch of his life after razing the Midnight Mission itself to the ground. Shockingly, Marc Spector was rescued by his other rival, the Hunter's Moon. With his help, Moon Knight was able to make a full recovery. Furthermore, this moment of charity is still dwarfed by the large welcoming party Marc has been given in the pages of Moon Knight #6 by Jed MacKay, Alessandro Cappuccio, Rachelle Rosenberg, and VC's Cory Petit.

While walking home, Marc Spector is greeted by streets filled with the people he has helped. They offer him full assistance alongside Reese and Tigra. The crowd even helps him begin to rebuild the razed remains of Midnight Mission. It might not have been what he set out to do, but Moon Knight has effectively galvanized the entire community and it is quickly becoming the greatest asset he could have asked for. It isn't just the fact that there are so many people willing to show their support that matters, but that all of them genuinely care for Moon Knight's well-being.

Moon Knight has never particularly needed anyone fighting by his side, even if he has worked with the likes of Earth's Mightiest Heroes on several occasions. As a mercenary, Marc Spector only relied on as many people as absolutely necessary. As the Fist of Khonsu, he has largely acted entirely on his own. The few occasions where he has taken on a partner have more often than not ended in tragedy, and he has never managed to work well with a group for very long. And yet, the citizens who come out to help know that their community is under the protection from the Fist of Khonshu.

Working with others might not be anything new to Marc Spector, but being a pillar of his community most certainly is. Whether the changes in Marc's life have driven him to taking up his new role or the Mission has given him a new heroic outlet isn't quite clear, though that distinction hardly matters in the grand scheme of things. What does matter is the fact that the Midnight Mission has become everything Marc only dreamed it could be, and that its community is poised to make it even greater.
