WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Captain America: Symbol of Truth #1.

The first issue of Captain America: Symbol of Truth, by writer Tochi Onyebuchi, artist R.B. Silva, colorist Jesus Aburtov and letterer VC's Joe Caramagna, brings back Hunter/White Wolf.

Symbol of Truth #1 opens with Sam Wilson/Captain America and Joaquin Torres/Falcon investigating a train smuggling Super-Soldier Serum. They end up getting attacked by some mercenaries, which results in one of them shooting Captain America down with a rocket launcher.

When he gets back up, Captain America and Falcon proceed to take down the mercs. Instead of finding the Super-Soldier Serum aboard the train, they instead discover a bunch of people, including Torres's cousin. Later, in prison, Brock Rumlow/Crossbones gets a visit from White Wolf, who tries to recruit him to help overthrow "a couple of" countries. As the issue concludes, White Wolf promises to let Crossbones kill Captain America.

Created by Christopher Priest and Mark Texeira, White Wolf first appeared in 1998's Black Panther #4. After his parents died in a plane crash, the character was adopted by T'Chaka, T'Challa/Black Panther's father. Over time, Hunter became the leader of the Hatut Zeraze, Wakanda's secret police, and took on the name White Wolf. Hunter has generally served as an antagonist to Black Panther due to his extreme methods.

Prior to the release of Symbol of Truth, Hunter made a brief appearance in Captain America #0, by Onyebuchi, Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Mattia de Iulis, and Caramagna. He appeared after Steve Rogers/Captain America and Wilson successfully stopped Arnim Zola. In that appearance, Hunter remarked thatWilson could have made a great leader of Wakanda, perhaps surpassing even T'Challa.

The plot synopsis for Symbol of Truth #2 teases Wilson having to get information about the aforementioned Super-Soldier Serum robbery from Wade Wilson/Deadpool, who is imprisoned in Latveria. The subsequent issue will then see him looking into vibranium smuggling, which will pit him against Doctor Doom.

Available now from Marvel Comics, Captain America: Symbol of Truth #1 features a main cover from Silva and Aburtov. Natacha Bustos; Taurin Clarke; Olivier Coipel and Alejandro Sanchez; Salvador Larroca and Jason Keith; and Skottie Young also created variant covers for the title.
