Marvel's Avengers Forever #5 brings about the return of Doctor Doom's most monstrous form, Doom the Living Planet.

In Avengers Forever #5, Doom Supreme -- a variant of Doctor Doom equipped with mystical armor -- has assembled the Multiversal Masters of Evil, a group of some of the deadliest villains from across the Universe. As Doom Supreme collects as many Doom variants as he can, the issue ends with the character saying that a flood is coming that "will wash away the works of man." He continues, "Behold the salvation of Dooms. Of the Doom-Thing. Of the giant-sized Doom. Of every Doom from throughout the multiverse. I am Doom the living planet. And I too once beheld the face of the fiercest Doom to ever live. All hail the Doom above all. All hail the Doom of Dooms."

Doom the Living Planet first appeared in 2010's Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine #2 by Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert. The version of the character comes from an alternate timeline where an aging Doctor Doom transferred his consciousness into a giant, robotic planet capable of massive destruction. The process of transferring Doom's consciousness and creating Doom the Living Planet resulted in most life on his Earth being wiped away.

Doom the Living Planet recently appeared in Avengers #38 when Mephisto manipulated the being into attacking the Avengers. Supreme Doom mentions Mephisto in his final monologue and notes, "The slaughter of the prehistoric heroes will continue. The bickering for Earths. Mephisto's grand machinations for the fate of the multiverse. Petty things, all."

Avengers Forever launched in 2021 from Marvel. The series spins off the events of Avengers #750 and runs alongside the main Avengers series. At the start of Avengers Forever, Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider and a Deathlok are sent to a dystopian Black Skull-ruled Earth-818. The two heroes team up with Tony Stark/Ant-Man and other members of Earth's Mightiest Heroes to stop the Johann Shmidt/Red Skull variant.

Synposis information for Avengers Forever #6 reveals that the next issue of the series will introduce a new superhero, the Invincible Vibranium Man. It further reads, "On an alternate Earth where Wakanda has been crushed from existence and where the Black Panther is a forgotten legend, one man known as T’Challa will forge a new legacy for himself and perhaps even hope for a planet caught in the grips of the god-slaughtering King Killmonger."

Avengers Forever #5 comes from Jason Aaron, Jim Towe, Guru-eFX and letterer VC's Cory Petit. Cover art is done by Aaron Kuder and Jason Keith, with variant cover art by Lee Garbett. The issue is on sale now from Marvel.
