Quicksilver has his fair share of history in the Marvel universe making his comic debut with the X-Men in 1964. He has gone from the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to the X-Men to the Avengers and even X-Factor for a brief time. Starting out as a villain, Pietro has gone back to villainy time and time again while at others showing off his capacity to make a real difference.

Fans of Quicksilver get to see this character commit all sorts of heinous crimes while also transitioning to a proper hero on occasion. This is especially true for his time with the Avengers.

10 Overrated: Lies About Skrull Committing His Crimes

After the fallout of House of M, Quicksilver took a dark turn stealing terrigen crystals from the Inhumans and offering them up to others, resulting in deaths. Additionally, he mistreated his daughter, forcing her to use the crystals.

Later on, Pietro joins the Mighty Avengers in their battle against the Unspoken, later explaining that a Skrull impersonator replaced him, stealing the crystals and causing the Silent War. Following that, Queen Medusa restores his citizenship, and Luna is brought to him. It is revealed that she knows the truth of his crimes and tells him that she cannot look at him the same way.

9 Underrated: Quicksilver Takes Down Ronan's Facility

In one of the oldest large scale Marvel events, the Kree Skrull War sees Kree and Skrull plot against each other with the Avengers in the middle. Earlier on, Quicksilver, along with the Vision and Scarlet Witch take on Ronan and a Kree Sentry in a jungle formed from their technology.

This technology turns many, Hank Pym included, into primitive creatures. While they do not see as much combat as the story goes on, as they are later kidnapped, the trio proves themselves as a team when they initially defeat Ronan and thwart his plans.

8 Overrated: Brainwashed Quicksilver Attacks Team

In the Uncanny Avengers run, the Red Skull plots against the Avengers, finally making his move against them with Quicksilver as a pawn. When triggered, Quicksilver makes short work of his team comprised of Doctor Voodoo, Synapse, Human Torch, and Wasp.

He then attacks Rogue and her team, almost killing Rogue in the process. Thankfully, Deadpool interferes and saves Rogue before Pietro can stab her with a syringe. While he was not in control of his actions, it is worth mentioning as there was an attempt on another Avenger's life.

7 Underrated: Joins Underground To Save Cap

Here is another instance of Pietro being a hero and helping someone who has helped him and countless others. Secret Empire sees an Underground team of heroes get together including Iron Man, Hercules, Sam Wilson, Ant-Man, Mockingbird, and Quicksilver.

The squad comes together to acquire the cosmic cube fragments needed to return Steve Rogers to normal, as Captain America has personally impacted their lives among others.

6 Overrated: Gets Synapse Badly Injured

This later installment in the Uncanny Avengers series sees Quicksilver disobeying orders and Synapse paying the price. After the destruction of the Avengers Mansion, Scarlet Witch and Doctor Voodoo summoned Cyttoras to help rebuild it, accidentally summoning Juggernaut in the process.

Quicksilver leaves Synapse near Juggernaut, assuring her that she can use her powers on him if he can remove his helmet. Before they go, Rogue tries to tell them that he has a second helmet. When Quicksilver removes the first, Juggernaut hits Synapse hard, knocking her unconscious. She is then hospitalized because of Pietro's actions and disobedience to Rogue's orders.

5 Underrated: Teaches At Avenger's Academy

Avenger's Academy, following the Dark Reign, sees heroes coming together to take the students most likely to become villains and teach them. These teachers include Hank Pym, Tigra, Quicksilver, Justice, and Cannonball. Quicksilver comes to teach here in the hopes of setting himself apart from his father, Magneto.

He also advocates for telling the students the truth about why they are here, although he is outvoted by the others. Still, it is a further example of Pietro trying to be better than before and set himself apart from his family reputation.

4 Overrated: Betrays West Coast Avengers

Back in 1986, readers see yet another villainous side of Quicksilver as the West Coast Avengers work to figure out who has betrayed them. After his wife Crystal's infidelity, among other events, Pietro aimed to destroy the Avengers utterly with the help of the Zodiacs.

Ultimately, Vision was able to stop him with a message from his sister, but this would not be the first time he turned on his team. He would later betray them to the Communists, leading to their capture as he aimed to be King of the Mutants.

3 Underrated: Part Of Cap's Kooky Quartet

Quicksilver's introduction to the Avengers saw a different kind of team with some key members stepping aside. This team, known as Cap's Kooky Quartet, consisted of Captain America, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch.

Many seemed to doubt the team, but they soon came to gain credibility defeating the likes of Doctor Doom, Kang the Conqueror, and many more. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's introduction to the Avengers saw the ragtag team enjoy great successes before they left. Quicksilver would even come to help hold the team together when Captain America took a leave of absence.

2 Overrated: Indirectly Caused House of M

Following the Avengers: Disassembled storyline, the Avengers came together to decide what to do about Scarlet Witch. Deciding that she was out of control, they aimed to kill her before she could do any more harm. Pietro then rushed to her side to tell her, urging her to save herself and give them what they wanted.

Thus, Wanda changed reality and everyone's lives in the process. Even after the heroes reversed it, she killed the majority of the mutant population, bringing them to the brink of extinction. By coercing her into changing reality, Quicksilver is largely to blame for the whole incident.

1 Underrated: Heroic Sacrifice In No Surrender

Avengers: No Surrender was a comic book event of epic proportions, seeing The Grandmaster and the Challenger playing a cosmic game with the Earth. While many of the heroes were put into stasis, others got together to combat the crisis, facing off against the Lethal Legion and the Black Order.

Initially, Rogue stops Quicksilver from fighting as she does not trust him. Still, that does not keep him away for long and he holds his own against the Lethal Legion when those around him, including Thor and Hercules, have fallen. With the help of Wanda and Synapse, he is able to go faster than ever and catch the beacon keeping the Avengers in stasis. Despite the lack of trust, he still manages to prove himself and his capacity for heroism as he sacrifices himself to free the other Avengers.
