Amid a flurry of comic news coming out of C2E2 in Chicago, Marvel Comics has also confirmed that a mystery event is being planned for the end of 2019.

No details about the event are available at this time, such as whether it's cosmic or supernatural. All we do know for sure is this secret event is slated to kick off in December 2019, meaning Marvel is looking to end the year with a bang.

“We’re only a few months into 2019, and we’ve already seen how our amazing fans – all of you – are inspiring some of the most outstanding storytelling in comics to date,” Marvel's Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski said in a statement. “Whether you choose to read your favorite Marvel books – like the Immortal Hulk, Venom, Avengers: No Road Home…or you want to read about the entire Marvel Universe – there’s truly a story for every type of fan to dive into and experience this year. With that in mind, this new publishing slate for Marvel Comics is a guide to help you see where things are going and choose your favorite stories and characters to follow.”

This event will follow three big events beginning with next month's War of the Realms, which involves the Dark Elf Malekith and his invading army wreaking havoc across the cosmos; the House of X and Powers of X stories that will mark Jonathan Hickman's long-awaited return to the publisher starting July, and last but not least, the Absolute Carnage event that'll commence in August. The latter will dive into the crimson reign of the evil symbiote known as Carnage and its wicked host Cletus Kasady as they look to wrest control of the Marvel Universe.

“The Marvel Universe is a tapestry of connections, with hidden clues and incredible details woven into every story. Our new publishing slate highlights the biggest moments for us this year…and we think you all will be excited for the next reveal planned this December,” Cebulski added.

Until more information is released, all we can do is wait and see what Marvel has in store to close out the year, and if it is indeed tied to these three preceding events.
