Hunting down an alien race as strong as the Klyntar just for fun is going to take some guts. The Poisons are the perfect antithesis to the Klyntar species, designed specifically to assimilate these symbiotes and turn them into soldiers for their maniacal ways.

The Poisons are an alien race of hive-mind originating from Earth-17952. Since their first appearance in Venomverse #1, by Cullen Bunn, Iban Coello, and Nick Bradshaw, they've garnered a large role in the Venomverse, so now's the perfect time to look back at their history and some notable members.

History of The Poisons

Emerging from the shadows, the Poisons first started wreaking havoc by realizing their ability to assimilate with Klyntars, utilizing the Klyntar's powers while simultaneously taking away the noticeable weaknesses that come with being bonded to a symbiote. While The Poison race was hunting symbiote, they came in contact with a venomized version of Doctor Strange. This version of Doctor Strange planned on bolstering the ranks of the Resistance by venomizing more heroes across the multiverse to fight the deadly Poisons. This inadvertent meeting led to a revelation for the Poisons involving hatching an ingenious plan of hijacking venomized Doctor Strange's plan and assisting in injecting heroes across the multiverse with symbiotes, only to have Poisons assimilate with them and create an unconquerable army.

Poison Doctor Doom and Poison Thanos then schemed up a plan to crush Doctor Strange and his ragtag resistance by unloading a battalion of unbounded Poisons and Poison Doctor Doom. The Poison battalion was able to capture Venomized Doctor Strange in the hopes to utilize his magic incantations to search and summon powerful heroes across the multiverse, to have them assimilated and added to the Poison army. Fortunately, for Doctor Strange, a Poisoned Deadpool and resistance members were able to break out Venomized Doctor Strange allowing the heroes to fight another day.

Notable Poisoned Characters

The Poison Queen was the original Poison and the spearhead of the multiversal domination plans. To grasp her desire to conquer and enslave the multiverse she enlisted the help of Poisoned Thanos and Doctor Doom. She was only defeated due to Jean Grey's unfathomable psionic powers, which can overcome the mind control that comes with being taken over by a Poison.

Poisoned Thanos was the head honcho of the assimilated heroes and villains under Poison control. In this alternate universe, Thanos believes that his one true love, Lady Death, is the Poison Queen, so it is believed that this is the one character who willingly allowed himself to be assimilated into the Poison ranks. To garner her love (like in every other universe Thanos appears in), Poison Thanos leads the charge on both attacks on the Marvel 616 Universe. Poisoned Thanos planned on utilizing the "anomalies" that only appear in the Prime Marvel universe to conquer the Multiverse. Poisoned Thanos's original plan was to capture Kid Kaiju and utilize his monster creating powers to streamline a source of labor for his Poisoned army.

Poisoned Doctor Doom was the right-hand man for Poisoned Thanos, and helped put into action the second invasion plan. Bonding heroes with symbiotes and assimilating them almost instantaneously allowed for a stronger more efficient invasion of Earth. Unfortunately, for Poisoned Doctor Doom, his plan was overwhelmed by the incredible psionic powers of Jean Grey.

Poisoned Punisher was an assimilated Venomized version of the Punisher from Earth-111711 and a former member of the resistance fighting back against the Queen Poison's maniacal plans. This Punisher regrettably was slain in combat by Anti-Venom. Anti-Venom's cleansing touch resulted in the Poisoned Punisher turning into goop on the side of a busy New York City sidewalk. Poisoned Castle's death was not in vain as the resistance was able to learn crucial information on how the Poisons assimilate and take over their host bodies.
