A recent leak about Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is likely false, as the person to whom much of the information was attributed -- reported insider Roger Wardell -- has indicated the details didn't come from him.The saga seems to have started when YouTube channel The Cosmic Wonder posted a video with the supposed leaked slate. Towards the start of the video, the presenter says, "A good majority of the information on this leak coming from or being confirmed by the account Roger Wardell." The video does not make specific exactly what Wardell confirmed and denied.RELATED: RUMOR: Blade May Appear in Hulu Marvel SeriesFrom there, the video was picked up by The Independent, where the language of that outlet's coverage seemingly attributed the leak more to Wardell than the video, though it actually linked to a GameFAQs/GameSpot forum post that itself linked to the aforementioned video. Several outlets later picked up the story, with some claiming The Independent's coverage was an interview. On Twitter, Wardell himself seems to have debunked the notion these claims came from him, though he didn't explicitly point to any of the aforementioned articles or videos citing him, writing, "These journalists really need to stop putting words in my mouth, but that's the day and age we live in!" Wardell did not specifically debunk anything in the leak, just the use of his name to lend credence to the ideas contained in it.

Wardell is a well-known leaker with a pretty high degree of reliability, having revealed many details about Avengers: Endgame prior to the release of the trailer, including Captain America's "Hail Hydra" moment and Lebowski Thor. He's also provided information about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Doctor Strange 2 that may prove true or false when those movies release.

According to the supposed leak, Phase Four's films are Black Widow, The Eternals, Black Panther 2, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Additionally, plans for additional movies in the Thor, Ant-Man and Captain Marvel series were mentioned, with New Avengers, Young Avengers and Dark Avengers films also in the mix. The leak also claims Norman Osborn will be introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home and become a recurring villain in the MCU. Additionally, Florence Pugh is said to be playing Yelena Belova in Black Widow, while Richard Madden will take on the role of Ikaris in The Eternals. Michael B. Jordan's return as Killmonger was also mentioned.

The actual source of the information is unknown, though it may have come from a now-deleted 4Chan post via Reddit. 4Chan posts, as they're anonymous, are not exactly known for their reliability and accuracy.

This debunking does not necessarily mean the leaked slate doesn't reflect Marvel Studios' plans, as many of the movies and details line up with those teased by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and various creatives over the years. However, this does cast some pretty major doubts on the veracity of the leak itself. For now, fans will just have to wait until Marvel Studios officially announces its plans after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
