Marvel Reveals Sneak Peek At Old Man Hawkeye #1

Marvel Comics has unveiled the first look at interior art from Old Man Hawkeye #1, by writer Ethan Sacks and artist Marco Checchetto.

The page, described as “stunning” by Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso, appears to depict a flashback to the death of Black Widow.

Announced early last month, the 12-issue miniseries is set five years before the events of the popular 2008-2009 storyline “Old Man Logan,” set in an alternate future in which an aging Wolverine accepts a job from a now-blind Hawkeye (aka Clint Barton) to deliver a secret package across a post-apocalyptic landscape.

“In this story, [Hawkeye]’s losing his vision and that sort of forces him to confront something really horrible that happened to him personally 45 years ago, and go on his own hero’s journey while he still can,” Sacks said when Old Man Hawkeye was announced. “It’s very much like a ticking clock that’s forcing him into action.”

Old Man Hawkeye is, on its own terms, an epic story,” Alonso added. “Readers will gain insight into previously established characters, explore new corners of the Wasteland, meet new characters, and discover exciting Easter eggs all throughout Clint’s journey.”

Old Man Hawkeye, by Ethan Sacks and Marco Checchetto, debuts in January from Marvel Comics.
