Edge of Spider-Verse is a new five-issue series launching in August. Marvel previously published a similar anthology series of the same name back in 2014. The new Edge of Spider-Verse run will introduce a number of brand new Spider-heroes, as well as reacquaint fans with some fan-favorite characters such as Araña, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Man: India. Each issue will contain three separate stories full of new debuts and surprises. Later in 2022, Marvel and Dan Slott will then debut End of the Spider-Verse, which marks the concluding chapter of the Spider-Verse story.

Felicia first appeared in 1979's Amazing Spider-Man #194. The character initially put on the Black Cat costume in an effort to break her father, William Hardy, out of prison after he was arrested for burglary. Following in her father's footsteps, Felicia was trained by William's mentor, Black Fox, to become a Robin Hood-like figure of her own.

Hardy has had numerous run-ins with Spider-Man/Peter Parker throughout the course of her vigilante career. While they initially crossed paths as enemies, the two eventually became friends and dated for a time. When Peter revealed his secret identity to her, Felicia decided that she was in love with Spider-Man but not Peter. After Felicia received superpowers from Kingpin she didn't feel comfortable sharing with her boyfriend, Peter realizes there are too many secrets between the two of them and decided to call the relationship off.

Spider-Verse fans will be introduced to more Spider-Man variants in the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One), which is scheduled for release on June 2, 2023. A sequel to 2018's groundbreaking Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the film will follow Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy and a team of others as they make their way across the multiverse to defeat a powerful new enemy. A third film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is set to be released in March 2024.

Edge of Spider-Verse #1 comes from writers Dan Slott, Alex Segura and Karla Pacheco, artist Mark Bagley and more and cover artist Josemaria Casanovas. The issue goes on sale August 3.
