UPDATE: Biegel has seemingly deleted his tweets, joking that he let Ryan Reynolds take over his Twitter for a night. You can read this article as it originally appeared below.

New Warriors showrunner Kevin Biegel has revealed a slew of behind-the-scenes content from the canceled Marvel television show, including our very first look at Milana Vayntrub in-costume as the unbeatable Marvel Comics superhero, Squirrel Girl.

"Feelin frisky. May do something uncouth," Biegel teased on Twitter. He then penned a longer post, explaining, "There's a show we wrote a few years ago. It was very proudly gay. A singular power that be killed the show. Because it was too gay. A rich, straight, Brentwood turd. He got fired for being vile at his company. We, on the other hand, live. #NewWarriors."

Biegel followed up that post with another containing two photos of Vayntrub in her Squirrel Girl costume. Biegel also posted a video of himself having a bit of fun with the prop used for Squirrel Girl's partner in crime, Tippy-Toe. A later set of videos also shows Tippy-Toe enjoying a slice of pizza. He later shared a video detailing the costume design process for Squirrel Girl.

Biegel even shared footage of his children watching the New Warriors pilot on a laptop -- more specifically, a scene in which Squirrel Girl appears to be leaping into action. "Well," he wrote. "In the very least, I got to make our kids proud. (Yes, that's The Rocketeer score as Squirrel Girl jumps and twists and dives.) UPDATE: Biegel has since posted an additional video featuring behind-the-scenes footage from New Warriors.

Biegel's posts weren't limited to Squirrel Girl-related content, however. He shared a number of other photos as well, including a bedroom set featuring an abundance of Iron Man posters, a restaurant called Fabian's (named for Deadpool co-creator Fabian Nicieza), a photo of the entire main cast and even a photo of Biegel himself alongside actor Keith David, who was supposed to play a character who would have eventually become the Marvel villain M.O.D.O.K. Plenty of other photos featuring the show's cast followed suit.

Biegel also opened up more about New Warriors' cancellation and what the show meant to its cast and crew. "Sadly, we didn't get to share it with you," he wrote. "If this was a 'the show was crap' situation, I'd totally shut up and never speak. Unfortunately, this was a 'high level exec with an agenda' situation. He got fired. I still miss our show.

"I have nights where I can't fall asleep because I get so mad we couldn't have characters say stuff like this -- because of one exec who thought we were making a show that was 'messy,'" he continued, sharing an excerpt from a New Warriors script. "Sorry. Not sorry. [New Warriors] woulda been really great. I wish we could've given it to y'all." UPDATE: A Marvel spokesperson denied these claims, telling CBR the company was fully supportive of the show and that after Freeform and other distributors passed, the project did not move forward.

Biegel declared, "Fuck it, I'm not deleting shit. I love our characters. I love Marvel. I love, love, love the New Warriors, in all their forms. This show would make the world better, even a little bit. Thanks for following all my bs posts. We love you.

"I love our show," he continued. "I love love our cast. I love that our show says, 'All outcasts and weirdos welcome.' The world is terrifying right now. I'd rather share our joy than be too scared to share it. Doing the right thing in the face of critcism [sic] is what the [New Warriors] are all about."

In a follow-up, he added, "Thank you for the kind words re our [New Warriors] show. It would've been totally different than any superhero show ever (up to this point, I mean sure someone is gonna do something akin to us at some point). And to be clear -- yeah, we got killed by one exec. Fuck him. G'night."

Marvel's New Warriors was slated to feature the characters of Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl (Vayntrub), Craig Hollis/Mister Immortal (Derek Theler), Dwayne Taylor/Night Thrasher (Jeremy Tardy), Robbie Baldwin/Speedball (Calum Worthy), Zach Smith/Microbe (Matthew Moy) and Deborah Fields/Debrii (Kate Comer).

The show was ordered straight to series and was set to debut on Freeform, which ordered 10 episodes in April of 2017. The pilot episode wrapped production by November, and the series was expected to premiere sometime in 2018. But by November 2018, Freeform (ostensibly) no longer had room in its schedule. As such, it returned the show to Marvel Television, which began shopping it to other Disney-owned networks. Both Hulu and Disney+ were considered, though neither streamer had any interest in picking up the series. New Warriors was ultimately declared dead as of September 2019.
