UPDATE 05/24/2019: Daredevil writer Chip Zdarsky clarified the below solicitation on Twitter, saying Marvel isn't introducing someone new under the mask. He wrote, "Here's the deal: don't fall for the hype. We're telling a story and it's NOT about 'who lives?! who dies?! who shall don the horns??' Issue 6 is out next week. It's a different Daredevil story." You can read the original article below.

Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto's run on Daredevil has put Matt Murdock through the ringer so far. After accidentally killing a liquor store robber in the first issue, the hero has had a rough time, and he's nearly died on several occasions as a result of his reckless behavior in pursuit of redemption. Daredevil #5 saw Matt finally hanging up his mask after receiving an ultimatum from Spider-Man.

The solicitation for Daredevil #9, which releases in August, reveals someone else will become Daredevil in Matt's absence. The solicitation doesn't reveal the identity of the new Man Without Fear, but it's pretty clear that Matt hasn't taken up the mask again. This new Daredevil will likely irk detective Cole North, who has made subduing the vigilante his main objective. Details for Daredevil #10 also don't provide any further details about the new vigilante, so their identity might only be revealed late into Zdarsky and Lalit Kumar Sharma's "No Devils, Only God" arc.
