Marvel Comics is teasing a newcomer to its ever-expanding universe, but is she a hero or villain?

The publisher released a piece of uncredited artwork today featuring a new female character along with the question, "Who Is Voyager?" Aside from a date promising more information to be revealed on Sept. 29, there is no further information available at this time.

Voyager

Though Voyager is being presented as a new character, she does bear a striking resemblance to Kismet, also known as Her, Paragon and Ayesha. Moviegoers were actually introduced to a version of Ayesha in last summer's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which saw the character brought to life by Elizabeth Debicki. Whether this is the same character, resurrected under yet another moniker, or an all-new person will remain a mystery for now.

It's also interesting to note that the date given is a Friday, rather than Wednesday, aka New Comic Day. That would indicate that Marvel is gearing up for some sort of big announcement in the entertainment media, and that we're unlikely to actually see more than a glimpse of Voyager in Sept. 27th's big release of the anticipated Marvel Legacy one-shot by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic.

Marvel Comics’ Legacy initiative kicks off Sept. 27 with Marvel Legacy #1, a 50-page one-shot from writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribic that promises to tell the “startling origin of the Marvel Universe” and underscore how “it’s all connected.”
