A fan-made trailer takes a look at the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, highlighting its newfound place in the multiverse and the movies and shows that focus on the shift.

The concept trailer was uploaded to YouTube by Superhero Theorist, and features scenes from WandaVision, Loki and Spider-Man: Far From Home, as well as promotional materials from upcoming series What If...?. It highlights footage from the films and shows that focus on the MCU's future in the multiverse. WandaVision and Loki are featured before the latter's disruption of the Sacred Timeline and creation of the multiverse, whereupon viewers are shown footage from What If...? -- which now exists in the MCU's larger canon -- as well as shots from various film adaptations of Spider-Man, which are rumored to collide in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The trailer ends with the titles that are theorized or confirmed to feature the multiverse, including previously mentioned titles WandaVision, Loki and What If...?, in addition to upcoming films Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the latter of which is rumored to unite with What If...?, potentially involving a hero featured in the show.

Prior to the Season 1 finale of Loki, the multiverse did not exist in the MCU as fans knew it. Instead, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) managed the Sacred Timeline under the coordination of He Who Remains, cleaning up alternate timelines and capturing variants before they destabilize the universe. At the end of Loki Episode 6, Loki variant Sylvie killed He Who Remains, resulting in the splitting of the Sacred Timeline and the creation of the multiverse.

The existence of the multiverse has been acknowledged throughout Phase 4, with the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel sporting the term in its title and promising to lean heavily into the existence of alternate realities. WandaVision was also said to connect to the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the latter of which will star Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff in addition to Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. Olsen also mentioned that her character is able to travel between universes -- a skill uniquely useful with the first concrete introduction of multiple universes.

The multiverse has only just been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, and fans will need to wait for future programs to explore the concept in its entirety. As for the upcoming Marvel Studios projects featured in the fan-trailer, What If...? begins airing on Aug. 11 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home will release on Dec. 17 2021 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on Mar. 25 2022.
