Based on the Marvel Comics' series of the same name, Disney+'s Moon Knight is the most recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, Moon Knight is Marc Spector, an American mercenary with dissociative identity disorder (DID) who dies in front of a statue of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu and is then revived so that he can become the "moon's knight" and protect the innocent. Disney+'s Moon Knight tells a different story from the original comics and features Steven Grant, a man who also has DID, as the main character. Disney+'s Moon Knight also appears to be set in the UK, as the trailer shows the entrance to the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square and Steven Grant has a British accent. The upcoming series appears to be a change of pace from Marvel's usual comedic superhero movies and series and promises to bring a darker twist to the MCU.
With that in mind, here's what we know about Moon Knight Season 1 so far, including the plot, trailer information, cast and crew and release date.
What Is The Plot Of Moon Knight?
The plot of Disney+'s Moon Knight appears to deviate from the Marvel comics origin story. Marvel's synopsis for the show states, "Moon Knight follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc's enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt."
The trailer for Moon Knight Season 1 shows Steven saying that he has a sleeping disorder and that he can't tell the difference between his waking life and dreams, implying that he will not discover the true extent of his mental illness until later on in the season. The Egyptian god Khonshu also appears as a hallucination, emphasizing the severity of Steven's mental illness and giving the show a darker twist.
Arthur Harrow also appears in the most recent Moon Knight trailer. Harrow is a doctor from the original Moon Knight comics who works in the field of pain theory. He doesn't have any powers and has trigeminal neuralgia, which has frozen half of his face. Arthur Harrow doesn't appear to have trigeminal neuralgia and is also a cult leader in the trailer for Moon Knight. Actor Ethan Hawke claimed in a Late Night with Seth Meyers interview that his portrayal of the character is based on David Koresh, the cult leader of the Branch Davidians. Although Arthur Harrow is canonically a villain in the Moon Knight comics, his role in the Disney+ series is currently unclear.
Does Moon Knight Season 1 Have a Trailer?
The first trailer was released on Jan. 18, teasing many aspects of Moon Knight Season 1, including Steven's DID and Egyptian gods.
The Big Game TV Spot for Moon Knight was released on Feb. 13 and showcases more of the hero's fight scenes.
The third Moon Knight trailer was released on Mar. 14, and shows Marc Spector interacting with Steven Grant.
The fourth Moon Knight trailer was released on Mar. 23, and shows more scenes of Oscar Isaac in costume and May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly.

Amira and Clash writer Mohamed Diab is the co-director of Moon Knight, along with Spring and The Endless director Justin Benson and Spring and The Endless cinematographer Aaron Moorhead.
The Umbrella Academy and Netflix's Death Note's Jeremy Slater is in the role of head writer. Batman Ninja and Harley Quinn writer Doug Moench and Bloodshot writer Don Perlin have also written episodes for this season of Moon Knight.
