Marvel Studios' Moon Knight series may have a Hollywood A-lister taking on a significant role behind the camera.

As reported by Cosmic Circus, assistant art director Marcos Torresin's website lists actor George Clooney as a director for Moon Knight. At the time of writing, it appears that Torresin has removed Clooney's name from the post. Some fans may take this as confirmation of the actor's involvement, but it may also be proof that Clooney's mention was an error. Neither Disney nor Marvel have commented on the supposed leak.

Clooney is known best to comic book fans for his divisive depiction of Bruce Wayne in the 1997 film Batman & Robin. Since then, the Hollywood star has achieved critical acclaim for his work in front of and behind the camera, earning Academy Award nominations for Good Night, and Good Luck and The Ides of March. Should the rumor prove true, Clooney will join director Mohamed Diab, who is directing four of the six episodes of Moon Knight.

In Moon Knight, Oscar Isaac plays Marc Spector, a vigilante with disassociative identity disorder. Isaac, who previously worked with Clooney on the 2017 movie Suburbicon, has expressed his enthusiasm for his role of Moon Knight, which he describes as one of the most challenging experiences of his career. "I found so much room to do things that I've never done before and had been curious about and wanting to do," said Isaac. "I could not wait to get to set, and it was the biggest workload I've ever had in my career and most challenging; by the sheer amount of stuff we had to do in eight months, and even yet, I couldn't wait to get to set and work."

Beyond Isaac, Ethan Hawke will also feature in Moon Knight in an undisclosed role. Rumors suggest that Hawke will play Moon Knight's central villain, though the actor has yet to confirm this. Hawke has only revealed his role in Moon Knight to his son, whose knowledge of the Marvel Cinematic Universe helped him portray his character accurately. Furthermore, Moon Knight may feature an appearance from Mahershalla Ali's Blade, ahead of his solo film. In the source material, Moon Knight encounters many spooky villains, including Dracula himself, making a team-up with Blade an appropriate way to introduce the vampire-hunter to the MCU.

While fans await confirmation on Clooney's involvement, they can go back and reflect upon the first teaser for the series. Revealed on Disney+ Day, the footage shows Isaac leaping through the air as Moon Knight and hints at the character's multiple personalities. Additionally, the teaser highlighted numerous Egyptian artifacts, confirming that the hero's comic book origins will influence his appearance in the series.

Moon Knight will run for six episodes when it premieres exclusively on Disney+ in 2022.
