Ethan Hawke has reportedly joined Oscar Isaac in the cast of Marvel's Moon Knight series for Disney+.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hawke will portray the main villain of Moon Knight. This week also brought the news that Ramy star May Calamawy has also joined Moon Knight in an unspecified role.

While Hawke's villainous role is currently unknown, a nemesis of Moon Knight in the comics is a mercenary named Bushman, who would go on to betray Marc Spector.

Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Marc Spector/Moon Knight first appeared in 1975's Werewolf by Night #32. The popular character, who is schizophrenic, received superhuman powers from the Egyptian god Khonshu. He is an expert detective and a capable martial artist, resembling in many ways DC Comics' Batman. The hero has been a member of a variety of superhero teams, including the West Coast Avengers.

Clash director Mohamed Diab was first announced in October 2020 as a director for Moon Knight, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead also joining to direct episodes. Moon Knight is expected to begin filming in Budapest in March.

While Marvel Studios has not officially announced Oscar Isaac as starring in the series, Moon Knight's cinematographer Gregory Middleton confirmed his casting on social media. When one of his followers asked if Isaacs was confirmed as Moon Knight, he replied, "he is, that's why I included that headline. :) Can't give any details of course... not allowed."

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also made sure not to mention Oscar Isaac by name during the Walt Disney Investor Day presentation in December. However, Feige did announce a group of new MCU series heading to Disney+, including Secret Invasion (starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos), Armor Wars (starring Don Cheadle as War Machine) and Ironheart (starring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams).

Directed by Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead and written by Jeremy Slater, Moon Knight does not yet have a release date. The series will debut on Disney+.
