PC players reported Firaxis Games' superhero tactical RPG Marvel's Midnight Suns is infested with a litany of bugs and performance issues.

Displeased players flocked en masse to Marvel's Midnight Suns' Steam page to share their experiences regarding the title's buggy launch state, with negative user reviews pushing the title's average score down to a mixed 58% at the time of writing. Many reported that Marvel's Midnight Suns suffered from frequent stuttering during gameplay and cutscenes, with users of high-end PCs also revealing not even the most powerful systems were spared from the game's alleged performance issues. Other players additionally reported long loading times, along with issues with Marvel's Midnight Suns' save system, wherein their personal save files were not uploaded to the game's cloud storage.

The developers of Marvel's Midnight Suns replied to some of the complaints, assuring players that they were currently working on fixes and would post an update sometime soon. The developers did not mention when players could expect to receive the promised update, nor did they provide an explanation for Marvel's Midnight Suns' troubled launch. Some users speculated that the game's stability issues mainly stemmed from its implemented anti-tamper software Denuvo, which was a DRM tool that was rumored to severely hinder a PC application's performance.

Performance issues were not the only reason for Marvel's Midnight Suns' low ratings. Players further criticized the superhero RPG for its implementation of an in-game cash shop, which many believed was an overreach when combined with its initial $60 price tag. Users were specifically displeased with the game's season pass, which was available for purchase for an additional $50. Other gamers also slammed Marvel's Midnight Suns for selling cosmetic microtransactions in a game that they believed was marketed as a complete single-player experience.

Creative director Jake Solomon previously explained why developers decided to package Deadpool as a post-launch DLC character instead of adding the beloved Merc with a Mouth to the 13 heroes included with the base game. "Originally, we toyed with the idea of putting Deadpool in the base game, but it's like the kind of thing where anytime Deadpool shows up, it becomes the Deadpool show," Solomon said. "The way that Marvel put it was 'Deadpool kind of sucks the air out of the room.' So we were like, 'Yeah, I guess that's true.' So we decided to wait on that."

Marvel's Midnight Suns is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will launch sometime in 2023.
