Marvel's Midnight Suns has received a glamorous illustration showing the game's cast in all their glory.
The cover, for Game Informer Issue 339, was illustrated by Ryan Stegman (King in Black, Venom) and depicts the team spotted in the recently released trailer from Firaxis Games, makers of the XCOM titles. From left to right, Captain America, Magik, Doctor Strange, Nico Minoru, Captain Marvel, Blade, Wolverine, Iron Man, the game's new character the Hunter, and Ghost Rider are all present in their golden and black outfits.
While little is currently known about Marvel's Midnight Suns' gameplay, Firaxis has described the title as a tactical role-playing game that plays differently from the XCOM series. Players will take control of the Hunter, child of Lilith, on a mission to slay the Mother of Demons alongside the Avengers and several of the supernatural characters from the '90s series The Rise of the Midnight Sons. An official gameplay trailer is scheduled to release on Sept. 1.
The Rise of the Midnight Sons was a 6-issue crossover from 1992 that featured heroes like Blade and Ghost Rider teaming up to defeat Lilith and her children. While the series inspired the game, Firaxis developers confirmed that their project is set in a self-contained universe and tells an original story, hence the slightly tweaked name.
As the Hunter, players will need to forge relationships and bonds with their team. To do this, they'll need to give them gifts, engage them in conversation and hang out in The Abbey, the home base of the team. Maintaining solid relationships with the game's roster of heroes will see them perform more effectively in battle.
Marvel's Midnight Suns is currently scheduled to launch in March 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
