Wolverine is a powerful offensive character in Marvel's Midnight Suns. In a great translation of his comic book abilities, Wolverine is very strong on the attack. The game also does a great job of incorporating his famous healing factor into the game's mechanics. This makes him a very flavorful addition to any team, as well as a very effective one.

Wolverine's attacks and buffs make him capable of outputting a large amount of damage. He is also able to keep himself alive with the use of Lifesteal abilities. Where Wolverine truly shines is in his ability to take out multiple enemies in a single move. Even if his multi-attacks don't KO every enemy they hit, he still opens up a lot of opportunities for other heroes to then mop up the leftovers. When it comes to utilizing Wolverine to his full potential, players will want to ensure they're including all the right cards in his deck.

Lethal Pounce+ Is Effective Even After Damage Is Applied

Wolverine Lethal Pounce Plus card from Midnight Suns

Wolverine's Lethal Pounce+ card provides a solid attack and sets him up for future success. Chain 2 allows Wolverine to attack two enemies nearby one another or to attack a single target twice. This flexibility makes Lethal Pounce+ feel effective whenever it's drawn. If Wolverine targets a single enemy with both attacks, he will also gain the Strengthened status, which will increase the damage output of future attacks. For this build, make sure to include two copies of Lethal Pounce+ to increase your chances of buffing Wolverine.

Chain Strike+ Can Thin Out Enemies

Wolverine Chain Swipes Plus card from Midnight Suns

Similar to Lethal Pounce+, Chain Strike+ allows Wolverine to attack multiple enemies. Its Chain 3 ability makes this card great for clearing out multiple smaller enemies, making up for the lack of Quick cards in this build. When using all of Chain Strike+'s attacks against a single enemy, they will also be weakened. That makes this card a very effective tool against boss enemies. Because of its versatility, players should run two copies of Chain Strike+.

Berserk+ Heals Wolverine and Fuels Future Attacks

Wolverine Berserk Plus card from Midnight Suns

Berserk+ is a huge benefit for both Wolverine and the rest of a player's team. By drawing 3 cards specifically from Wolverine's deck, Berserk+ will allow players to make the most out of the Lifesteal this card applies to his attacks for the turn. Combining the Lifesteal granted by Berserk+ with a Chain attack like Chain Strike+ or Lethal Pounce+ will allow Wolverine to recover a huge amount of health. Most of Wolverine's cards in this deck also generate Heroism, which is a great resource for the whole team. That means having more Wolverine cards to play will provide resources for other heroes to use. Since Berserk+ helps set up other plays so well, players will want to run two copies of it in the deck.

Stink of Fear+ Makes Wolverine an Excellent Protector

Wolverine Stink of Fear Plus card from Midnight Suns

Since Wolverine is good at recovering health, including a Taunt card like Stink of Fear+ can make him a huge asset to other heroes. Wolverine can effectively keep some of the more fragile heroes on the team safe, and then heal back up from any damage he took during the effects of the Taunt status. This also allows Wolverine to give an enemy the Weak status, which can help protect the team against powerful attacks from a big threat.

Midnight Special+ Is Wolverine's Secret Weapon

Wolverine Midnight Special Plus card from Midnight Suns

Wolverine's best finisher move is Midnight Special+. This card will consume all the player's stored-up Heroism and make Wolverine attack random enemies a number of times equal to the amount of Heroism spent. Each subsequent attack will increase in power, making this an incredibly effective way to take out multiple enemies with one move. Each time an enemy is knocked out by this ability, players will also recover one Heroism, meaning it won't fully deplete their resources. This move works great when combined with the Strengthened status gained from Lethal Pounce+ and the Lifesteal status from Berserk+.

Wolverine is an excellent teammate in Midnight Suns. He can help take out large sections of enemies while also generating a lot of Heroism for the team. All the cards in this build synergize very well together, and his ability to fetch his own cards from the deck makes it easier to pull off great combos. Though players will have to wait a little while before adding Wolverine to their team, it is definitely worth slotting him in when he eventually arrives.
