Captain America from Marvel's Midnight Suns is one of the best defenders in the game. Not only does he do a great job keeping himself alive, but with the right deck, he can easily draw attention away from his more vulnerable teammates. This kind of build also perfectly captures Cap's selfless nature, making it a very flavorful translation of the character from the page to the game. While creating the perfect deck for Captain America will take time and quite a few card upgrades, it is definitely worth it to have one of the best tanks in Midnight Suns.

When building Captain America in a tankier role, some of the most important things to include are cards that grant Block. This allows Cap to take plenty of hits without going down. Once his defense is up, players can feel confident allowing him to draw aggro from the enemies. This will allow players to safely complete objectives with other characters, or just keep glass cannons like Ghost Rider alive for longer. As an added bonus, Cap can also draw a lot of cards, ensuring players have a full hand of options each turn.

Quick Punch+ Helps Fuel Future Attacks

Quick attacks in Marvel's Midnight Suns are some of the more useful cards to have because they refund the card play if the attack KOs an enemy. They also generate Heroism that players need to unleash more powerful attacks. Captain America's upgraded Quick Punch card will draw an additional card, meaning it really is a free attack most of the time. Quick Punch+ taunts an enemy as well, making it a useful tool even when it can't be used to KO a foe.

Brooklyn Handshake+ Provides a Lot of Value

Similar to Quick Punch+, Brooklyn Handshake+ is a card that will give players plenty of momentum. This attack generates Heroism, and can also draw two cards if it manages to KO an enemy. Since it deals 100% Offense damage, it will likely be possible to take out an enemy with it. Players get even more of a chance to take out an opponent with Brooklyn Handshake+, as its Knockback ability can be used to push enemies into dangerous environmental objects or other allies for additional damage.

Tactician+ Keeps Cap and His Allies Safe

When it comes to generating Block for Captain America, Tactician+ is a great option. Not only does it give Cap 30% of his total health in Block, but it also gives half that much to all his allies. That way, even when Captain America isn't able to draw aggro to himself, players still know that their other heroes can take a bigger beating than usual. For good measure, Tactician+ will also draw two cards.

The Best Defense+ Makes Cap Hard To Kill

The Best Defense+ allows players to take damage they've been putting out and use it to Cap's advantage. The card grants the amount of damage done for two turns to Cap as Block, which can be pretty significant when played at the right time. The card also generates two points of Heroism and draws two cards, meaning it is a very helpful card for generating resources as well as keeping Captain America safe.

Dig In+ Provides Protection to Allies

One of Captain America's best Skill cards is Dig In+. It gives Cap half of his health as Block and a Counter. It also taunts all enemies targeting one specific ally. This allows Cap to pull the enemy's focus from a weaker hero to himself and gives him the defensive stats needed to withstand the upcoming attack.

Shield Bash+ Cashes in on Block

This deck will grant Captain America a lot of Block, so it's nice to have some payoffs for that. While Block is great for keeping Cap alive, sometimes players are going to need to do damage more than they need to defend. Shield Bash+ allows players to take some of the Block they've generated and turn it into extra damage for this attack.

Shield Bounce+ Has a Great Combination of Effects

Captain America's upgraded Shield Bounce ability plays perfectly into the strategy for this build. It starts with a pretty strong area of effect attack, then taunts each enemy that it hits. This can not only take out several weaker enemies at once, but it will also draw any survivors' aggro onto Cap. Shield Bounce+ also allows players to give the Weak status to one of the enemies hit, which is great when targeting a larger enemy.

Shield Charge+ Trades Block for a Devastating Attack

A second way for Cap to convert Block into damage is Shield Charge+. This uses all of Cap's Block and applies it as damage to all enemies in a line. This can help clear a huge section of enemies once Captain America has generated a lot of Block. It also draws a card for each target, keeping players' hands full for future turns.

When playing Captain America with this deck, players will want to do their best to keep his Block score high. This will allow him to absorb the extra attacks he will draw to himself with taunts, and also cash in on cards like Shield Charge+. Cap is also a great resource for any team, as most of his cards in this build generate Heroism and draw extra cards.

Thanks to the excellent defense that Captain America provides to himself and others, he is a great character to play with some of the game's more fragile heroes. For example, the Hunter, when using a dark build, outputs a lot of damage, but many of their attacks hurt themselves as well. With Cap around, players can keep characters like the Hunter and Ghost Rider from drawing too much aggro, thus keeping them alive longer.
