Ahead of the debut of his upcoming intergalactic series, S.W.O.R.D., Marvel writer Al Ewing discussed Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto's placement within the space-team while also detailing the kind of dynamic the magnetic mutant will have with his two former Acolytes on the team — Joanna "Frenzy" Cargill and Fabian Cortez.

"Magneto is on the station as a representative of the Council," Ewing explained in an exclusive interview with CBR. "That role is designed to cycle through council members over time. (Although having said that, I'm enjoying writing Erik so much I might just keep him around for good.)"

As far as how Magneto's synergy with Frenzy and Cortez can be expected to play out, Ewing promised that the three former allies will have some interesting interactions within the first two issues of the series. Ewing was also sure to highlight Cortez's past villainy, adding, "He's disliked and mistrusted, as he should be. Cortez is awful."

Meanwhile, Frenzy's past experience as Ambassador of Genosha will come in handy, as she will be taking the position of Ambassador Extraordinary for Krakoa. "Ceremonial combat is definitely a thing with a lot of the major space powers, so Frenzy works out of a diplomatic Danger Room, which can be a boardroom or a battle arena; we get to see that in use in issue #1."

Al Ewing and Valerio Schiti's S.W.O.R.D. #1 hits shelves from Marvel Comics in December.
