Marvel's very own Power Man, Luke Cage became one of the most sought out superheroes in the Marvel Comics after Netflix released the character's original series, although it was cut short, thanks to disagreements between Marvel Television and Netflix.

Luke Cage's first appearance came in the comic named Luke Cage, Hero For Hire #1 and the character itself was created by George Tuska, John Romita, Archie Goodwin, and Ray Thomas. With the concentration being around Cage's supposed powers, the comics over the years have revealed so much about the Avenger's unbreakable skin. There are so many things the fans need to know about Cage's body and here are a few awesome facts about the same.

10 He Wasn't Born With It

Marvel Comics

While Luke would have wanted to be born a superhero, unfortunately, it didn't pan out that way as he has a proper origin story, which is both sad and painful. Born in Harlem, Luke was arrested for doing nothing and he volunteered for a science experiment, which saw a copy of the Super Soldier Serum (the one used on Steve Rogers) being used on him. The experiment took a drastic turn and he developed an unbreakable body, along with the other perks.

9 He Is Fast, Really Fast

Luke Cage from Marvel Comics

This seems to be an underrated power of Luke Cage. The Power Man of Marvel Comics didn't just gain superhuman strength from the serum, his body also became very light and he is someone who can swiftly cover ground. A glimpse of the same can be seen in the Netflix series and in Marvel's The Defenders. Luke literally is able to chase down a truck and he doesn't even break a sweat. It's absolutely incredible the amount of acceleration he can gain for such a big body.

8 Superhuman Stamina

With the ability to cover long distances in a short space of time, Luke also has absolutely incredible stamina. It seems like serum adjusted his stamina according to the levels of strength in his body.

He can fight for as long as the opponent wears out or eventually gives up. It's just like Captain America and no wonder why Luke seems to have these leadership qualities; he can literally do it all day. In the comics, Luke has stood up for some incredible battles.

7 Healthy Appetite

Despite being super strong, it comes across as a genuine surprise that Luke Cage doesn't have a weird appetite. He eats as much as a normal human being does and so far, he has shown no signs of an extraordinary diet. The reason why it comes across as a surprise is that Luke's body is able to churn out incredible feats of strength, which means the muscles use a lot of energy and hence why he should feel the need to eat food at regular intervals. But it seems like Luke's digestive system works a bit differently

6 Superhuman Healing Abilities

Luke Cage in the Marvel Comic Universe

If the superhuman strength, stamina, and power weren't enough, Luke Cage also has incredible healing abilities but not at the level of a Wolverine or Deadpool. Instead, he is at a level where his body can heal in days when for a normal human being it should take weeks, at least. While Luke doesn't really suffer from fatal injuries day in day out, whenever he does suffer from dangerous injuries, he is able to get back up on his feet pretty quickly.

5 The Delivery Is Important

Even though Luke Cage has a superb healing factor in his body, that doesn't make him immune to every type of poison present in the universe. Also, it depends heavily on the fact that from where the poison is getting into his body. If it's through his chest, biceps, or even wrist, chances are they will not affect him. It's really very hard to pin down the Power Man but if one is really careful, then he/she can succeed, with the emphasis on the word success.

4 Energy Blasts Need To Be Good

Luke Cage's unbreakable skin is so good that most kinds of energy blasts don't end up doing anything to him. They just tickle him, quite literally, and even Iron Man has struggled to do anything to him through his renowned energy blasts.

In one comic representing The Crew, Luke came up against Hydra and they tried to blast him off using a rocket launcher. And guess what, when the rocket landed, everything in and around the area got destroyed but there was Luke standing tall like nothing even happened.

3 Lasers Can Affect Him

Luke's outer body is like an armor that protects his organs but if someone can find a way to break through the body without actually tearing him apart then something can definitely happen. That's where these small yet powerful lasers come into play because they can cause damage to Cage's internal body structure. Like if a powerful beam of X-Ray is used on him, maybe some of his organs might start failing. But in order to reach that far, one has to trick Cage which is easier said than done.

2 His Head Is His Biggest Weakness

If there's any part of Luke Cage's body that is vulnerable to a simple blow is his head because a blunt trauma to his head can affect him as seen in Marvel's The Defenders story arc when Elektra is able to leave him unconscious by landing a blow to his head. Concussions can have a huge effect on Cage as it does to many other superheroes, even Thanos who pretty much told Thor that he should have gone for the head.

1 Vulnerable To Wolverine's Claws

Luke Cage with the Thunderbolts

Wolverine's claws are made out of Adamantium, so it can be said that Luke Cage's body can be penetrated by using this fictional metal alloy that is found in the Marvel Universe. Over the years, Wolverine's claws have broken through the likes of Hulk, so it wouldn't surprise anyone if it has the same effects on Cage. It would be really interesting to note that Cage might be open to infections if he suffers a clean blow but that doesn't happen very often.
