Marvel Legacy: Sam Wilson Returns as The Falcon

As part of its Marvel Legacy initiative, Marvel Comics has revealed the cover for an upcoming Falcon series starring Sam Wilson back in the title role.

For a couple years now, Wilson has taken up the Captain America mantle -- and it seems his tenure is about to end come Fall. It's worth noting that Wilson's Captain America hasn't been featured in any Marvel Legacy artwork thus far.

The Falcon has yet to fly solo in an ongoing series -- his only solo run was in a 1983 miniseries from writer Jim Owsley and artist Paul Smith.

“A new initiative that will take things back to our iconic history, with a firm eye on the future, Marvel Legacy will present stories that remind everyone — newcomers and longtime fans alike — why Marvel stands as the premier name in fiction,” Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso said in an earlier press release. “Our titles will unearth gems from Marvel’s rich history, remind readers of connections between characters, and usher in the return of some major characters who’ve been missed. Above all else, we want to inject our comics with a massive dose of fun!”
