With starring roles in his own ongoing series as well as "Uncanny Avengers," Deadpool's keeping busy in the "All-New, All-Different" Marvel Universe. His schedule's about to get even more crowded with the launch of "Deadpool and the Mercs For Money," a new five-issue limited series launching in February 2016. As revealed over at IGN, the limited series reteams frequent 'Pool collaborators, writer Cullen Bunn and artist Salva Espin and spins out of events currently unfolding in the main "Deadpool" ongoing series.

"'Deadpool and the Mercs for Money' is 'The Dirty Dozen' and 'The Expendables' if Deadpool was in charge instead of Lee Marvin or Sylvester Stallone," said Bunn in the announcement. "It's 'Saving Private Ryan' if, instead of rescuing a soldier, they were trying to make a metric ton of cash. It's 'Smokey and the Bandit,' but rather than being pursued by Buford T. Justice, our heroes are harried by the likes of Lord Deathstrike and the Crazy Gang and Taskmaster and Deadpool's sorta undead nemesis, Evil Deadpool."

Bunn further elaborated on the premise, explaining that the merc has hired a group of mercenaries in the "Deadpool" ongoing series, and that this limited series will follow the team on one specific mission. "The Mercs For Money have found what might be the most valuable artifact in the universe, and everybody wants it -- from crime lords to alien menaces to demonic entities," said Bunn.

The series will feature recent cast additions like Foolkiller, Terror and Slapstick along with Deadpool as they go up against a number of other established Marvel characters as well as some new faces. "We've got fan-favorite villains as well as some you haven't seen in a long while," teased Bunn. "We're also introducing some new characters who I think will play a role in the Marvel Universe for a while to come."

Bunn also commented on artist Salva Espin, who's had to dive deep into the back issue bins to find reference for this series. "I can only imagine how much reference he has to dig up for all the characters in this series. And he's been asked to draw some pretty bizarre things -- like big rigs fueled by demonic energy and a dinner party in Hell. Of course, I can't tell you the absolute weirdest stuff he's drawing! It would spoil too much!"
