Marvel has revealed a new miniseries that will tie into the events of King in Black, titled Gwenom vs. Carnage.

Gwenom vs. Carnage will see a symbiote-powered Gwen Stacy facing off against the serial killer Carnage, who became a prophet for the dark deity Knull during Absolute CarnageSpider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider writer Seanan McGuire will return to write Gwenom vs. Carnage, with Flaviano on art duties. "I could not be feeling better or more excited right now! You can expect a lot of swinging (and kicking) high, yelling loud, and general chaos," McGuire said. "I've missed Gwen so much, this is really a gift." Gwen had previously gained a Symbiote during the original run of Spider-Gwen. However, hers is man-made.

Carnage was previously resurrected by the cult of Knull and sought to collect enough codices to awaken the God of the Symbiotes. He seemingly died during Absolute Carnage but wound up possessing Eddie Brock during the "Venom Island" storyline.

King in Black features Knull battling Venom, as well as the collective heroes of the Marvel Universe. The event spins out of Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's work on Venom and Absolute Carnage and begins in December.

King in Black: Gwenom vs. Carnage #1, by Seanan McGuire and Flaviano, goes on sale in January 2021 from Marvel.
