Marvel Comics has debuted the first look at the characters starring in Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti's G.O.D.S. in a series of variant covers also featuring Venom, Doctor Doom, the Uncanny Avengers and more.

Originally teased at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 before being announced in March 2023, G.O.D.S. is a new Marvel project launching in 2023 from Hickman and Schiti. Ahead of their upcoming debut, the publisher has revealed a new series of variant covers introducing fans to a host of new magical characters. "From powerful mystics to daring scientists, these are agents of THE POWERS THAT BE and THE NATURAL ORDER OF THINGS and servants to the very building blocks of creation," Marvel teased. "They may be new to readers but they’ve been scheming and clashing with each other for eons in the shadows."

Ema Lupacchino's Doctor Strange #6 (releasing Aug. 2) variant sees the Sorcerer Supreme standing alongside Wyn, an expert in all things magic who has operating in secret for thousands of years. Wyn's partner, Dmitri the Science Boy, meanwhile, strikes a pose next to the God of Thunder in Bryan Hitch's Immortal Thor #1 (releasing Aug. 23) cover and Marc Spencer in Salvador Larroca's Moon Knight #26 (releasing Aug. 2) variant, while another young magic-user named Mia the Magic Girl stars in variants by Todd Nacuk for Guardians of the Galaxy #5 (releasing Aug. 9) and Greg Land for Uncanny Avengers #1 (releasing Aug. 16)

Giuseppe Camuncol's Fantastic Four #10 (releasing Aug. 2) cover introduces fans to Cubisk Core, a seemingly villainous and overly corrupt character, while Aiko Maki, an agent of science trying to keep the current Marvel mythos in balance, debuts in Jan Bazaldua's Venom #24 (releasing Aug. 23) variant. Additional G.O.D.S. covers for Scarlet Witch #7 (by Lucas Werneck, releasing Aug. 2) and Amazing Spider-Man #32 (by Adam Kubert, releasing Aug. 23) will be revealed at a later date.

What Is Hickman and Schiti's G.O.D.S.?

Marvel previously teased of G.O.D.S., "Meet Wyn, a mysterious player in a war that exists outside of the orders we know and a vital member of an eons-old hierarchy that includes the omnipotent rulers of the universe such as Eternity, Infinity, and the Living Tribunal. After a fateful meeting with Doctor Strange, Wyn hints at something even bigger than the forces of good and evil, where the very building blocks of creation scheme and clash. It’s the beginning of a breathtaking epic at the crossroads of science and magic, one that will shatter our understanding and open our eyes to ideas beyond all that we perceive."

"When I came back to Marvel a few years ago, I wrote two series bibles. The first was House of X and the other one was G.O.D.S.," Hickman said when the project was announced. "To say that I’m excited to finally be able to share this story with everyone is a massive understatement. G.O.D.S. takes place in its own special corner of the Marvel Universe -- in the cracks that lie at the intersection of science and magic -- and revisits some characters and concepts that we’ve reimagined for a more modern, continuity-driven audience."

G.O.D.S. #1 releases in fall 2023.
