WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Savage Avengers #2 by Gerry Duggan, Mike Deodato Jr., Frank Martin and Travis Lanham, in stores now.

The powerful artifact known as the Eye of Agamotto, which is most famous for belonging to Doctor Strange, is actually one of three. Yes, in the Marvel Universe, there are actually three Eyes of Agamotto -- and one of them has just resurfaced in an unlikely title: Gerry Duggan and Mike Deodato's Savage Avengers.

The second issue of the new series, which brings a team of particularly deadly superheroes like Conan the Barbarian, Wolverine and the Punisher together, features the return of an ancient foe: Kulan Gath. The malicious sorcerer, who is currently located in the Savage Land, has plans to awaken a terrible evil known as the Marrow God and loose it upon the world. However, Conan the Barbarian is also on the island, and he has heard whispers of a prized amulet in the sorcerer's possession.

In Savage Avengers #2, Conan finally manages to steal the amulet. It's only after the artifact goes missing, however, that Kulan Gath reveals what it really is. "A thief has absconded with the third eye," he says.

Now, Savage Avengers writer Gerry Duggan makes it clear that Kulan Gath's amulet really is the third Eye of Agamotto.

"Old readers might remember that Kulan Gath had an amulet and that's how he was traveling through time," Duggan said in an interview with CBR. "His soul would leave the necklace. That doesn't appear to be how he's operating right now, but he does have another amulet that is called the Third Eye of Agamotto."

The artifact is crucial to the sorcerer's plan to summon the Marrow God, and it is now thankfully in Conan the Barbarian's care. However, he might not keep it for long. "I don't think anyone would be shocked if that got back to some of the sorcerers in the Marvel Universe," Duggan added.

As it so happens, the Savage Avengers do have a sorcerer on their roster: Brother Voodoo. Sure, Jericho Drumm may have gotten his throat sliced at the end of Issue #1, but he's alive and kicking again in Issue #2. Voodoo is powerful, and he was even the Sorcerer Supreme at some point. Therefore, it's possible that the third Eye of Agamotto may come into his possession as Savage Avengers continues to unfold.
