The Inhumans have caught a lot of flak over the last few years. Marvel tried to make them into the new X-Men but that backfired horribly and they've pretty much been relegated to the dust bin of history since that epic failure. That's not to say there aren't any good characters among the Inhumans, though. In fact, the best Inhuman is their leader, the mighty Black Bolt.

Black Bolt can control electromagnetic energy, which he channels through his vocal cords. Any noise he makes releases destructive blasts that mean he has to be very careful, lest a noise he makes kills everyone around him. On top of that, he can fly, has super strength, and amazing durability. How would Black Bolt do against some of DC's best heroes and villains? Let's see how he stacks up.

10 Can Beat: Batman

While it's said that with prep time, Batman can beat anyone, there's just no way that Batman can handle Black Bolt. Black Bolt's powers are just way too dangerous for Batman and nearly impossible for him to countermeasure.

Could Batman get his hands on something strong enough to protect him from Black Bolt's strongest attacks? Maybe, but Bolt's powers are about so much more than his screams, as his control over electromagnetic energy gives him a wide range of combat options. Batman would try but Black Bolt has his number.

9 Would Lose To: Doctor Fate

Doctor Fate casting magic spells

Doctor Fate's powers come not only from his knowledge of magic but the Helmet of Fate, which gives him access to the energies of the Lord of Order, Nabu. This makes him superlatively powerful, which would serve him well against Black Bolt. If anything can trump Bolt's amazing powers, it's Fate's magic.

Doctor Fate would be able to protect himself from just about any attack that Black Bolt threw at him and using his both his and Nabu's vast knowledge of magic, could figure out a way to negate all of Black Bolt's powers. This would make him easy pickings for Fate to take down at his leisure.

8 Can Beat: Green Lantern

Green Lantern

On paper, it seems like Green Lantern should be able to defeat Black Bolt or at least hold his own against the Inhuman monarch. The Green Lantern ring gives its bearer a wide range of offensive and defensive options and on top of that, Hal Jordan has gotten through some pretty hardcore beating in his day.

However, the problem comes with Black Bolt's control over electromagnetic energy, which would allow him to manipulate the ring's energy, messing up any construct that Jordan summons up. He'd be able to correct for it but Black Bolt would strike quickly and he wouldn't have to strike more than once.

7 Would Lose To: Sinestro

Sinestro raises his arm to strike in DC Comics

Sinestro shouldn't be able to do much better against Black Bolt than Hal Jordan would but he's also a different kind of ringslinger than the man he trained. First off, Sinestro has always been better with his ring than Jordan, knowing more about the ins and outs of using it. Secondly, his constructs are better. Finally, he's just way more ruthless than Jordan. He's not going to mess around when there's a better, quicker solution available.

Black Bolt is tough but he's not unbeatable. Sinestro is going to go for the kill immediately, putting Black Bolt on the defensive. Sinestro will keep him there and eventually, one of his attacks would hit the mark, taking Black Bolt out.

6 Can Beat: Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is one of the toughest members of the Justice League and has faced down all manner of foe over the years. From the run of the mill supervillains to mythological titans. Black Bolt, though, would prove to be too much for her. While her powers have always served her well against her opponents, Black Bolt's own abilities would prove impossible for her to overcome.

Too much of Wonder Woman's offense involves getting in close for physical attacks. She's probably stronger than Black Bolt but Black Bolt wins because he can attack her from a distance, keeping her at bay and taking her out before she could get close enough to make a difference.

5 Would Lose To: The Flash

Black Bolt is one of the most powerful superheroes around but so is the Flash. His connection to the Speed Force gives him all kinds of powers, some more outlandish than others. Flash's speed makes him one of the hardest heroes to beat. It's hard to beat someone who is so fast they can't be hit and can punch someone a thousand times in a second. Black Bolt's powers give him a lot of advantages, but everyone is negated by Flash's speed.

Black Bolt is no slouch in the speed department himself but he can't match the Flash. He might be able to get a few hits in but once Flash realizes what he's dealing with, he's going to go into overdrive, moving way too fast for Black Bolt to get a bead on. At that point, the fight will be over in seconds.

4 Can Defeat: Black Adam

Black Adam is practically immortal

Black Adam is one of the most dangerous villains around and he has no issue with using his powers to kill anyone in his way. Those powers, combined with his many years of experience make him a devastating opponent but that's not going to help him against Black Bolt. While Black Adam is definitely stronger than Black Bolt, it's Black Bolt's other powers that will win him the fight.

The two would go back forth with Black Adam getting the best of Black Bolt at first because of his savage fighting style. However, Black Bolt would know that he wouldn't have to worry about holding back anymore and cut loose against Black Adam, taking him down before Adam could beat him.

3 Would Lose To: Brainiac

Brainiac

Black Bolt has some experience dealing with powerful invaders from space but Brainiac would be too much for him. Brainiac's ship is armed to teeth and equipped with all of the technology he's collected over the years. The drones he uses are powerful enough to give Superman pause, as well. Black Bolt's powers would allow him to do a lot of damage to Brainiac's ship and drones, but the numbers game would catch up to him eventually.

On top of that, Brainiac would be analyzing Black Bolt the whole time, figuring out a way to counter Black Bolt's powers in case he had to face him personally. Even without a countermeasure, Brainiac would still be able to take down Black Bolt.

2 Can Beat: Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor would believe he can take Black Bolt and, as usual, his overconfidence would be his weakness. While his anti-Superman armor, technology, and intelligence make Lex a tough opponent to handle, Black Bolt's sheer power would mean that none of that would matter. Plus, Bolt is no slouch when it comes to the smarts as well and is arguably a better combatant than Luthor.

There's a good chance that Lex would be able to outsmart Black Bolt for a while but Bolt's power would allow him to overcome any advantage Lex's intelligence gives him. If Lex had enough time to analyze Black Bolt's powers, he would have a chance but Black Bolt isn't going to give him that time.

1 Would Lose To: Superman

Black Mask Posing as Superman

Superman has Black Bolt beat in every department. He's faster, stronger, and way more durable. He's a better fighter and while he may not have Black Bolt's experience as a leader of a country, that's pretty much the only place Bolt has him beat. A scream from Black Bolt would hurt Superman... if he could hit him.

Superman's flight powers, combined with his speed, would allow him to keep ahead of Black Bolt. Bolt can fly but he just can't match Superman's speed. After taking a few hits from Black Bolt, the kid gloves would come off and Superman would make short work of Black Bolt.
