Marvel has released additional details regarding this summer's Infinity Wars, including an official synopsis for an Infinity Wars: Prime #1 one-shot from the creative team of Gerry Duggan, Mike Deodato Jr. and Frank Martin.
Following in the footsteps of Infinity Countdown, Infinity Wars will continue the story of heroes and villains from across the Marvel Universe as they begin to "reap what they sow" while hunting for the Infinity Stones. The synopsis also mentions how the search will lead to more upheaval in the cosmic corner of the Marvel Universe, and lead to an even larger story.
In INFINITY WARS: PRIME #1, the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe reap what they sow as their frantic search for the Infinity Stones leads to cosmic madness like never before. The simmering events of recent months spiral into something much, much bigger in this colossal story.
The teaser image for Infinity Wars includes Adam Warlock, Doctor Strange, Gamora, Captain Marvel, Star-Lord, Thanos, Loki and a mysterious hooded figure with the Infinity symbol draped over its eyes like goggles. Marvel promises more information on Infinity Wars will be released during the upcoming C2E2 convention which runs April 6-8.
The original Infinity War series from 1992 revolved around the Magus’ efforts to use the Infinity Gauntlet for his own evil machinations. Though Magus did appear in the run-up to the current Infinity Countdown storyline, he was quickly killed by the event’s true villain – the human/android hybrid Ultron Pym.
