Actor Gregg Sulkin recently shared his thoughts on why Marvel's Runaways was canceled at Hulu after three seasons.

"I think streaming-wise, financially, they have to potentially renegotiate with everybody after the third season," Sulkin said in a clip from the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum Podcast posted on YouTube. "They don't have to, but I think that it's sort of an unspoken [rule]."

When Rosenbaum teased Sulkin about the show being canceled because he asked for too much money, the actor responded, "It's Disney. I don't think that anyone kills Disney in negotiations, you know?"

Runaways aired for 33 episodes, from 2017-2019, and was one of several Marvel shows set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It followed six teenagers from different backgrounds who were forced to unite against their criminal parents, who run an organization called Pride. Sulkin appeared in the series as Chase Stein, a high school lacrosse player who also doubles as a brilliant engineer and member of the Runaways superhero team.

During the same conversation, Sulkin also reflected on what it was like to portray Stein, who he described as a "really fun character to play." He added, "I learned a lot on the visual effects side of stuff. I thought that was great....yeah, they spent a fortune on the show. Also, it was a dream of mine to shoot at Paramount."

"I remember when I first moved to L.A., sitting outside, praying with my mom in the car like, you know, 'Oh, I'm going into an audition, I hope I work here one day,'" the actor explained. "And then literally to have a key code, you know...And you're the first trailers right there on Paramount. It's like, 'Wait. What is happening here?' ... I had to remind myself to pinch myself a lot because it was like, 'Wait. I dreamt of this moment.'"

The third and final season of Runaways also notably included a crossover episode with Marvel's Cloak and Dagger. "For three years now, we were kind of anticipating it," Nico actor Lyrica Okano said at the time. "We were aware of Cloak and Dagger since the first season. We knew they were a Marvel show and also a teen show, so it was possible that we could be in the same world or the same realm." Similar to Runaways, Cloak and Dagger aired for two seasons on Freeform before being canceled.

Marvel's Runaways stars Gregg Sulkin, Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Allegra Acosta, Angel Parker, Ryan Sans, Annie Wersching, Kip Pardue, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Brigid Brannagh, Kevin Weisman, Brittany Ishibashi and James Yaegashi. All three seasons are streaming now on Hulu.
