The recent introduction of the Multiverse into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the rumors of past Spider-Man actors teaming up with Tom Holland has given rise to rampant fan speculation that other actors from earlier Marvel films could be making their MCU debuts through the use of the Multiverse, with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine naturally high on most fans' lists for a character people would like to see show up in the MCU. Jackman, however, appears to have thoroughly dispelled the rumor in a new interview.

Jackman appeared on Jake Hamilton's interview show, Jake's Takes, to discuss his new film, Reminiscence, and Hamilton has obviously heard the same speculation as everyone else over the Multiverse, but when he put it to Jackman, he got an answer that will disappoint a whole lot of fans.

First off, Jackman responded to Hamilton's specific reference to the Multiverse giving older actors a chance to reprise their roles with, "That fact that I’m hearing about this from you, and there’s nothing in my inbox from Kevin Feige means it’s probably, no matter what idea I came up with, not on the table."

However, Jackman then further elaborated, "Let’s just be clear. I realized, before we shot Logan, I was like, we got the idea. We knew what it was going to be-ish, right? And I thought this is it. And that really helped me, it really helped knowing I was going into my last season, that it was my last season that I made the most of it. And it’s still a character I hold close to my heart. But I know it’s done."

Jackman then joked, "Tell that to whoever you want. Please tell it to Ryan [Reynolds]. Because he’s like, doesn’t believe anything, he thinks I’m joking, please."

Just a month ago, fans were reading into Jackman sharing a BossLogic Wolverine drawing followed by a photo of Jackman with Kevin Feige a day later, but if Jackman is telling the truth here, those social media posts were just coincidences.

Still, in the modern era of super secrecy with regards to film spoilers, there is always the very real possibility that any denial is just a feint, and only time will tell if Jackman is seriously done with Wolverine or not.
