The X-Men have been living in a relative harmony in the advanced island nation of Krakoa, but in a new preview for Sabretooth #1, Victor Creed is about to delve below the island paradise to reveal its dark and terrifying secrets.

Dawn of X, the bold era for Marvel's Merry Mutants, began with Sabretooth answering for his crimes after brutally attacking police officers in New York City. This fateful trial is revisited at the start of the new comic book miniseries Sabretooth, retold from Creed's perspective as heads of the mutant nation-state levy their judgment upon him. Confined in the heart of Krakoa's council chambers awaiting his sentencing, Sabretooth is unimpressed, with his own insults for each of those presiding against him.

The five-issue Sabretooth miniseries is written by Victor LaValle and illustrated by Leonard Kirk, with colorist Rain Beredo. The sentencing of Sabretooth originally took place in 2019's House of X #6, with the X-Men taking their longtime supervillain into custody rather than allow him to face a human justice system, insisting that mutants should govern their own. Advance solicitations for the series hint that after being sentenced to imprisonment in the subterranean bowels directly below Krakoa, Sabretooth will quickly discover he is not alone under the island and that he is set to make a secret deal that will change his life.

Krakoa has endured its fair share of challenges since its foundation and subsequent condemnation of Sabretooth's murderous activities. The 2020 crossover event "X of Swords" saw the rogue children of Apocalypse engage champions from Krakoa across a series of harrowing duels, ending with Krakoa absorbing its twin island Arakko in the aftermath. Recently, Mystique has carried out her own vendetta on Krakoa and its ruling Quiet Council in the crossover event "Inferno," shaking the mutant nation to its core.

Sabretooth is poised to answer the lingering questions of what has become of Victor Creed since that trial by the Quiet Council, filling readers in on what exactly the merciless mutant has been up to below Krakoa all this time. Krakoa has been through a lot since Sabretooth was a free man, and the bloodthirsty supervillain is ready for his own brand of revenge.
