Hulu's animated Hit-Monkey series is still in production—and the footage so far apparently looks fantastic.

Jordan Blum, the showrunner of Marvel's upcoming M.O.D.O.K. animated series starring Patton Oswalt, spoke to ComicBook about the adult-oriented show's debut. In the process, he revealed that Hit-Monkey is not only still happening, but he's seen some of it. "You know, I'm excited people will be able to see Hit-Monkey," Blum said. "I've seen a little bit of it, and it looks amazing."

Back in 2019, Marvel TV announced four animated series: Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Tigra & Dazzler and Hit-Monkey. The adult-oriented shows would see Marvel move away from family-friendly fare on Hulu, and they would all combine for a team-up series called The Offenders. Big names like Patton Oswalt, Chelsea Handler and Kevin Smith boarded some of the individual projects, but then Marvel TV was shuttered.

With Marvel TV ending and Marvel Studios creating content for Disney+ under Kevin Feige's leadership, Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler were canceled in early 2020. M.O.D.O.K. remained in development and will premiere later this month. As for Hit-Monkey, no update was ever offered, leading many to believe it was still quietly in the works.

"I was consulting on the other shows cus I was possibly gonna do The Offenders if it ever came to be," Blum said. "It was really cool. Everyone got to do their own thing. We didn't change a single thing in our show. But no, you know I think you want to give showrunners a little bit of freedom to kind of establish their characters and the voice of the shows and not worry too much about how it all fits together. That was going to be my burden."

Blum won't be involved in anything other than M.O.D.O.K. now, but he's still plenty excited for whatever other Marvel animated projects arrive on Hulu. "I don't get to do it, but we're excited to get these shows out."
