They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, which is true for a number of superhero parents in the Marvel universe whose children followed in their footsteps to become superheroes in their own right and even form their own heroic families, though that isn't always the case.

While there are generational supervillains in the Marvel Universe, there are also quite a few characters with supervillain parents that struck out on their own to become heroes, either in opposition to or without knowledge of their parent's dark lifestyle, which is bound to cause problems at these heroes next family reunion.

10 Cable is The Son Of The Goblin Queen

Nathan Christopher Charles Dayspring Askani'son Summers/Cable's was the infant child of Scott Summers/Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey who would make a demonic deal by almost sacrificing her child to become the Goblin Queen.

He was then infected with a techno-organic virus by Apocalypse and sent to the future, where he was raised in a war-torn future to become the adult leader of his army before he returned to the present as a hero alongside the X-Men.

9 Gamora Is The Adopted Daughter Of Thanos

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are well aware of Gamora's connection to Thanos, as the Mad Titan adopted her after the slaughter of her home planet, which made her the only survivor of her people in the comics.

Gamora was raised by Thanos to become the deadliest woman in the galaxy, but much like her MCU counterpart, she turned on her father and began to actively work against him as a member of the Infinity Watch and then the Guardians of the Galaxy before briefly taking on her adopted father's mission during Infinity Wars.

8 Quake's Biological Father Is Dr. Calvin Zabo/Mister Hyde

Daisy Johnson/Quake first appeared in the pages of Brian Michael Bendis and Gabriele Dell'Otto's Secret War as the original Nick Fury's superpowered agent, who displayed her abilities by blowing up Wolverine's heart with a mini-earthquake.

Daisy learned from Nick Fury that her abilities came from her father Dr. Calvin Zabo, who frequently ingested his own serum to become the villainous Mister Hyde. Hyde's genetic tampering was passed down to his daughter, which Daisy later learned reacted with her mother's Inhuman genes as well.

7 Polaris Is The Daughter Of Magneto

While Magneto currently works alongside his former enemies as one of the leaders of the mutant nation on Krakoa, he spent years as a mutant terrorist fighting for his people's survival and domination of humanity.

Lorna Dane/Polaris was one of the X-Men's first new recruits whose mutant ability mirrored Magneto's leading to suspicions of their familial connection. Polaris eventually discovered the truth that Magneto was her real father, and they formed a close relationship that has continued to grow in the Krakoan era.

6 The Runaways Are The Children Of The Pride

Vaughan and Adrian Alphon's Runaways introduced a group of kids who discovered their parents were part of a ritualistic group of criminals known as The Pride that operated a criminal organization in Los Angeles. The Pride featured an assortment of villains that included aliens, mutants, time-travelers, and dark wizards that touched all corners of the Marvel Universe.

The Runaways (Alex Wilder, Nico Minoru, Chase Stein, Karolina Dean, Molly Hayes, Gertrude Yorkes and her velociraptor Old Lace) left their parents and formed their own unofficial superteam that has endured over the years.

5 Nightcrawler's Mother is Mystique And His Father Is Azazel

Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler was raised in a Bavarian circus after he was found abandoned as a child, and it wasn't until he was a grown member of the X-Men that he discovered his biological mother was actually Raven Darkholme/Mystique.

It was still years after his discovery of his mother's identity that he then also learned the truth about his father. Azazel was a mutant demon who was trapped in the Brimstone Dimension, so he sired a number of mutant children with teleportation abilities like Nightcrawler so he could free himself from his prison.

4 Star-Lord's Father Is The Evil King Of Spartax

Peter Quill was raised without the knowledge of his father's villainy, but after he was abducted to the stars and raised to become Star-Lord, he soon discovered his true heritage as a member of the Spartax Empire.

His father was J'Son, Emperor of Spartax, and he attempted to sway his son under his rule by taking out his friends in the Guardians of the Galaxy. J'Son eventually lost his empire and became the villainous mercenary known as Mister Knife during the "Black Vortex Saga."

3 Pixie's Real Father Is Jason Wyngarde/Mastermind

Jason Wyngarde/Mastermind was a villainous member of Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants before he allied himself with Sebastian Shaw's Hellfire Club, where he played a large role in the corruption of Jean Grey during the "Dark Phoenix Saga."

Wyngarde has two supervillain daughters who took their father's name after his death, though it was eventually revealed that the X-Men's Megan Gwynn/Pixie was also one of Wyngarde's daughters in X-Men: Pixie Strikes Back by Kathryn Immonen and Sara Pichelli.

2 Vision & Victor Mancha Are The "Sons" Of Ultron

Hank Pym is known as Marvel's father of artificial intelligence due to his creation of Ultron, who became one of the Avengers' greatest threats, but he apparently also passed on his love for invention as Ultron continues to create other robotic lifeforms like himself.

He first designed the Vision to infiltrate the Avengers, though he ended up joining them. He then created the cyborg Victor Mancha who he hoped would one day join the Avengers as his sleeper agent, but Victor rebelled like his older brother and went on to join with the Runaways.

1 Shang-Chi's Father Was Originally Fu Manchu

Shang-Chi and Fu Manchu

When Shang-Chi first appeared in the pages of Special Marvel Edition #15 by Steve Englehart, Jim Starlin, and Al Milgrom. He was introduced as the son of literary character Fu Manchu, a criminal overlord who raised Shang-Chi to become a powerful warrior.

Fu Manchu's racist characterization and Marvel's loss of his rights led to his disappearance. He was later replaced by Zheng Zu who was revealed to have created a vast shadow criminal organization while operating under the false identity of Fu Manchu in Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato Jr.'s Secret Avengers.
