One of the biggest differences between Marvel and DC comics is relatability. DC sure has its fair share of relatable heroes, but the entire Marvel brand is built on the idea of relatability. While many of DC's greatest heroes have the powers of gods, Marvel's catalog of heroes is full of underdogs.

Because of their underdog status, many of the Marvel heroes are severely underrated. Here are the top ten Marvel heroes who are unfairly underestimated.

10 Moon Knight

Moon Knight with the moon

Often described as "Batman with dissociative identity disorder," Moon Knight has never been an A-list hero. Given his many mental health issues, he often gets overlooked when it comes to conversations about the most effective superheroes.

Despite the many obstacles in his way, Moon Knight continues to prove to be one of the most versatile heroes in Marvel comics. He fights not only elite assassins and supervillains, but also enemies of a more ghostly/spiritual nature. That's a skill not many heroes have.

9 Beta Ray Bill

Everyone agrees that Thor is one of the strongest Avengers in the entire Marvel Universe. Logic would dictate then that Beta Ray Bill, the Korbinite who was given his own Asgardian hammer and endowed with the powers of Thor, would be powerful as well.

Nevertheless, because of his strange appearance, Beta Ray Bill remains one of the most underrated heroes in Marvel comics. The upper limits of his powers are nearly equivalent to the mighty God of Thunder himself.

8 She-Hulk

Jennifer Walters doesn't quite garner the same respect as her cousin, Bruce Banner. Bruce has rightly earned his reputation as quite possibly the most powerful hero to ever grace a Marvel comic book page.

While she doesn't quite have the same strength level as the Hulk, She-Hulk makes up for it with her intelligence and ingenuity. Over the course of her career, she has proven to be a true staple of the Avengers roster.

7 Deadpool

Most of the heroes and villains within Marvel comics consider Deadpool to be a bit of a joke. He doesn't do himself any favors with his nonsensical speech and stupid antics.

Even with his many problems, Deadpool's deadly assassin skills and incredible healing factor make him one of the most skilled killers in the Marvel universe. He's gone toe to toe with some extremely powerful enemies, including Wolverine, Cable, and even Thanos. The Merc with a Mouth is not one to be messed with.

6 Squirrel Girl

You absolutely cannot make a list of the most underrated Marvel superheroes without including Squirrel Girl. She has garnered quite the fan-following for her ability to overcome her underdog status and defeat some of Marvel's most heinous villains.

Squirrel Girl has taken down a very impressive list of supervillains. Doctor Doom, Galactus, Thanos, and many others have all fallen victim to the unassuming young woman. Underrated is putting it lightly.

5 Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff Is Black Widow

When many different people look at Black Widow, they consider her to merely be a spy holding a handgun. Over the course of her many years with the Avengers, she has proven to be so much more. Black Widow is just as much of a superhero as any other Avenger.

She's gone head to head with many of the world's most powerful superhumans. As a member of the Avengers, Black Widow has helped save the world a numerous amount of times. On her own, she has the capability to take on hundreds of enemy combatants at once.

4 Black Cat

Unfortunately, many comic fans dismiss Felicia Hardy out of hand as merely Spider-Man's ex-girlfriend. This is doing the master thief a serious disservice. Black Cat is skilled enough to fight alongside most of Marvel's greatest heroes.

What really puts Black Cat over the top are her bad luck powers. With an ability to distort probability fields, Black Cat can make it quite difficult for enemies and quite easy for herself to come out victorious in a fight, even if she is physically outmatched.

3 Punisher

With the body count that Frank Castle has racked up, you would imagine that he would be the most feared heroes in the whole world. Despite that fact, given his lack of any superpowers, many consider the Punisher to not be a serious threat when facing superhuman characters.

With the use of his military experience, diligent training, and powerful arsenal, Frank has managed to even defeat superhumans as strong as the Incredible Hulk. Many are unaware that the long list of casualties at the Punisher's hands includes many supervillains.

2 Daredevil

Many of Marvel's most popular characters are of the street-level variety, and heroes don't get more street-level than Matt Murdoch, aka Daredevil. While Daredevil often isn't found fighting aliens alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy or supervillain masterminds alongside the Avengers, he has proven to be an incredible hand to hand combatant and hero in his own right.

As the arch-enemy of Kingpin, Daredevil has been in his fair share of tough fights. Any man who can repeatedly fight and defeat the forces of Wilson Fisk deserves some serious respect. Furthermore, Daredevil's combat skills have allowed him to dismantle some of the most fearsome assassins in the world.

1 Spider-Man

Surprisingly, Marvel's flagship hero has been underrated for the majority of his crimefighting career. Despite his many incredible powers and long history fighting Marvel's most famous supervillains, Spider-Man is still considered a "street-level hero."

He is. But to merely describe Peter Parker's crime-fighting career as "street-level" is doing him a serious disservice. Spidey's rogue's gallery is by far the best of all Marvel characters (and nearly the best of all comic book characters, second only to Batman's). That, matched with his important role in many adventures with teams such as the Fantastic Four and Avengers, makes Spider-Man the most underrated hero in Marvel comics.
