It cannot be easy to define what a superhero is—for example, is Luke Skywalker a superhero? Many would not think so, but it's worth considering. After all, Luke is a brave warrior with a strong sense of morality who uses his supernatural powers to fight against evil and protect the weak from harm. If a Jedi could be a superhero, then this begs the question—what would Marvel heroes look like as Jedi?

Just as the Jedi pursue the light side of the Force as they move through the galaxy helping others, they are always at risk of falling to the dark side. Yoda summed up the dangers best in The Phantom Menace. Fear could lead to anger, which could lead to hate, which was the path to the dark side. Considering that the Marvel Universe has several antiheroes, there are just as many of them who would be great Jedi and might succumb to the dark side's influence.

10 Jedi: Captain America — He Embodies Hope, Strength, And Justice For Others

Captain America throws his shield

It may seem a bit shocking to think of Captain America trading his star-spangled shield for a lightsaber and life among the stars of a distant galaxy, but the spirit and virtues that Captain America embodies transcend any time or place.

There is no one more committed to justice than Captain America. He embodies hope, justice, and helping others, just like the Jedi of the Galactic Republic.

9 Dark Side: Wolverine — His Fear Of Losing Those He Loves Makes Him Likely To Succumb To Darkness

Wolverine With The Muramasa Blade

As the resident bad boy of the X-Men, Wolverine has always grappled with his anger. He has been known to fly off into a berserker rage, killing without hesitation. This anger—and fear he has of losing control and those he loves—makes him precisely the sort of Jedi who is likely to fall to the dark side.

If he wielded a lightsaber, he would pick up a red one whenever he started seeing the color in one of his blind rages. What's particularly terrifying is the fact that his adamantium skeleton might even be able to hold its own against a lightsaber blade or a Beskar weapon.

8 Jedi: Black Panther — He Is Spiritually In-Tune With Himself And Has Great Physical Capabilities, Which Would Make Him A Great Jedi

T’Challa is already practically a Jedi. After all, as the King of Wakanda, he has mastered spiritual traditions of mindfulness, martial arts, and high-tech weapons. One of Wakanda’s sacred weapons is also a sword named the Skybreaker.

Giving Black Panther Force powers seems like a recipe for making the most overpowered character in science fiction, but he already has a level of self-mastery on par with Mace Windu and the diplomatic skills of Obi-Wan Kenobi. It seems likely he would become the next Grandmaster of the Jedi High Council.

7 Dark Side: Jessica Jones — Her Emotional Unstabilitiy Would Make Her An Easy Target To Manipulate

When Jessica Jones was first introduced in the original Alias comic, she was lashing out at the world, ruled by her trauma, hate, and pain. This is understandable, considering all she has been through.

However, the Sith would efficiently exploit these traits, and they make it easy for one to succumb to the influence of the dark side of the Force. She also has a problem with authority, so if the Jedi Council’s leaders tried to help her, she would become more consumed by the darkness.

6 Jedi: Captain Marvel — She Has Immense Power, But Understands Self-Control

Few Marvel heroes can simultaneously be as grounded and down to Earth as Captain Marvel while also staying above the worst of everything going on. She is possessed of self-confidence and an unflappable will, a hero in every sense of the word.

She is also one of the most powerful Marvel heroes around—but has never let that power corrupt her or go to her head. This shows she has what it takes to be a great Jedi Master.

5 Dark Side: Iron Man — He Has Always Struggled Between Darkness And Heroism

Tony Stark Iron Man Comics

Sometimes, it is amazing to think that when Tony Stark built his Iron Man suit, he turned out a hero instead of a grade-A supervillain. He began life as an arms contractor and, even as a superhero, often ruled by selfish impulses. Furthermore, as an alcoholic, he suffers from a disease—something that is not his fault—but that has led to him hurting himself and many people he cares about.

To be clear, Tony’s alcoholism has nothing to do with why he is likely to fall to the dark side. Instead, it is the fact that he has never been able to control his fear, recklessness, or impulsivity—all of which are just part of who he is as a person. Tony would become a dark Jedi faster than you can say “I am Iron Man”—and then would almost certainly build a red lightsaber that shot out his chest and was somehow incorporated into a mech suit.

4 Jedi: Shang-Chi — He Already Has The Makings Of A Wonderful Jedi, Spiritually And Physically

One of the most underappreciated characters in the Marvel Universe is Shang-Chi. He is a master of kung fu. He is also the son of the villainous Fu Manchu (retconned to be Zheng Zu in recent stories). He has combined mystical arts, martial arts, and Machiavellian politics of the most dangerous of all of Marvel’s villains. Despite Zheng Zu’s meddling, Shang-Chi has risen to become a spiritually at peace leader while capable of using violent force to subdue opponents when necessary.

Basically, Shang-Chi is already a Jedi. Non-attachment, use of force without malice, and helping others. All of these Jedi qualities are basically the tenants he already lives by.

3 Dark Side: Daredevil — He Has Already Went To The Dark Side Multiple Times Already In Some Storylines

Dardevil feature

Matt Murdock has spent his life walking a blade’s edge between being on the right and wrong side of almost every aspect of his life. He has immersed himself in Hell's Kitchen's dark underworld crime, fighting against mobsters, ninja, and supercriminals—and allying with them from time to time.

Several times in his life, Matt has been consumed by either his depression or rage. If Matt Murdock were a Jedi, he would almost certainly fall to the dark side. That said, he seems like the sort of dark Jedi who could be redeemed and come back from such a fall.

2 Jedi: Storm — She Has Come Into The Darkest Depths Of Evil, Yet Can Still Best Them At Their Own Game

Storm flying and summoning lightening, her eyes crackling with electricity

The one-time leader of the X-Men, Ororo Munroe, has been everything in her life. The Queen of Wakanda, Storm of the X-Men, and even a rain goddess—or, at least, she was venerated as though she were a goddess. So, why not a Jedi?

Even when she lost her powers, Storm was a skilled leader who never lost her head and who was able to defeat far more powerful opponents through strategy, psychological awareness, and self-control. She has quite literally danced with Death, and when Death tried to seduce her, she told him that was as close as they would ever get to one another. Later, she defeated Death in single combat—after being drugged. This is proof she can come into contact with the greatest temptations of the dark side, get to know them for what they are, and still best them.

1 Dark Side: Misty Knight — She Already Struggles With Fighting Between Two Sides

Misty Knight punching a door with her bionic arm.

Misty Knight has always struggled between fighting as a superhero and a police detective. Unfortunately, the latter role has not always served her community, frequently creating tension with the people she wants to help. She has also infiltrated supervillains without any difficulty.

Like most people, Misty has a lot of pain and rage that she grapples with. She also has blind spots for how her actions impact others. While she genuinely wants to do the right thing, it is not difficult to imagine she could be convinced to find herself allying with the Sith without even realizing it until it was too late.
