The X-Men are one of the greatest teams in the Marvel Universe. Staffed by the most respected mutants on the planet, the team battles some of the most dangerous foes and fights against the racism inherent in human society. This is a lot to handle and the men and women of X don't get a lot of happy moments; being a superhero, in general, isn't the happiest line of work but add in dealing with a world that wants to kill you compounds that in ways an Avenger would never understand.

However, that doesn't mean the team hasn't had some happy moments in their time as a team. Whether it be weddings, births, or returning friends, the X-Men have had some very happy moments.

10 The Resurrection Of Colossus Brought One Of The Pillars Of The Team Back To Life

Colossus cassaday

Colossus was always one of the team's most beloved members, so his death (sacrificing himself to cure the Legacy virus) was a tragic event. However, the X-Men have long been known for beating the odds when it comes to death and the iron Russian was no different, returning during Whedon and Cassaday's seminal Astonishing X-Men run.

While the team couldn't immediately celebrate- they were locked in battle with the alien villain Ord- it would prove to be a joyous event for the team after the battle. Colossus would quickly return to his place as the heart and soul of the team.

9 The Five Resurrecting The X-Men After Their Mission To The Mother Mold Was The True Beginning Of A New Era

House of X Nightcrawler Resurrection Protocols

House of X/Powers of X was full of big moments but one was the cause of a massive celebration- the resurrection of Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Mystique, M, Nightcrawler, Archangel, and Husk after their fatal mission to the Orchis Mother Mold. Krakoa promised new life for all of mutantkind and this resurrection represented that in concrete terms.

Their victory and resurrection was the moment that outlined the promise of Krakoa to the mutant residents of the island. Not only did mutants have the power and wherewithal to destroy their enemies with impunity but their newfound immortality gave them a leg up on their opponents.

8 The Hellfire Gala's Fireworks Changed The Balance Power In The Solar System

The waxing power of the mutant nation of Krakoa has given mutants lots to celebrate and they decided to share their opulence and power with the world during the first Hellfire Gala. They also had secret plans for the Gala as well, one that would show just how powerful they were and what they could do when they put their minds to it.

Working together, a group of mutants led by Magneto was able to transform Mars from a barren rock into a life-sustaining planet, transferring Krakoa's sister island Arakko and its residents there and re-christening it Planet Arakko. While the rest of the world looked on in anger and trepidation, the X-Men and the rest of the mutant race were ecstatic, flush in their power and the new promise of tomorrow.

7 The Discovery Of The Five Lights Was A Win When They Needed It

HOPE SUMMERS FEATS - Five Lights

M-Day was one of the worst days for the X-Men, as the vast majority of the mutant race were de-powered. For years after, mutants were on the verge of extinction with only the X-Men standing between the scant few left on the Earth and destruction. Hope was in short supply until the birth of Hope Summers, the first new mutant since M-Day, and was re-ignited with the discovery of the Five Lights.

The Five Lights were the first five teenagers to manifest mutant powers since Hope's birth, a huge deal for the team and one that was a bright spot for them in a time when everything seemed at its worst.

6 The Re-Powering Of The Mutant Race Elicited A Bittersweet Celebration

On the one hand, the events of Avengers Vs X-Men did a lot of harm to mutants- the Phoenix Five went from benevolent caretakers to insane, potentially genocidal gods, Professor X was killed, and Cyclops ended up imprisoned. However, all of that was outweighed for the X-Men because of one simple fact- working together, the Phoenix empowered Hope Summers and Scarlet Witch re-powered mutantkind.

Not only did many mutants who had to lose their powers regain them but new mutants began being born again. While the happiness of this moment wouldn't last- the Terrigen Mists were released not long after which led to another crisis for mutantkind- it was a cause for celebration for a time.

5 The Establishment Of Krakoa Gave Mutants A New Home

The X-Men and mutantkind have constantly been kicked by the human race- the X-Mansion has been destroyed by Sentinels and other foes many times, the first mutant nation of Genosha was exterminated in minutes, and fellow "heroes" like Scarlet Witch and the Inhumans almost destroyed mutantkind with their selfish actions. So, when Professor X parlayed his wealth into a pharmaceutical empire built on drugs created by Krakoan flowers, change was on the horizon.

Using his newfound economic power and the utility of the new drugs to the human race, Xavier was able to create a new nation for mutants, one where they could be safe. This was a massive cause of celebration for the X-Men.

4 The Return Of Jean Grey Is Always A Cause For Celebration

Jean Grey Phoenix attacks Human Torch and She-Hulk

Jean Grey is one of the most important X-Men. She's done a lot for the team but she's also known for dying. Her deaths and resurrections are almost a joke but they haven't happened as often as people like to believe they have. However, every time she returns to life is a happy moment for the X-Men.

Her first resurrection- when her body was found in suspended animation in Jamaica Bay years after her "death" as Dark Phoenix- was one of the happiest moments in X-Men history and her more recent resurrection was a huge moment for the team after a lot of defeats.

3 The Birth Of Nathan Summers Was The Team's First Baby

Nathan Summers Cable

After Jean Grey's "death" as Dark Phoenix, Cyclops ended up with Madelyne Pryor, a Jean Grey clone. They would get married and he would leave the team but he did stay in touch with his friends. Madelyne got pregnant and when she gave birth, it was a moment of profound joy for the team.

Nathan Summers, who would eventually become Cable, was the team's first baby and babies are always a cause for celebration. The team visited Cyclops and Madelyne in the hospital, taking turns holding Nathan and celebrating the new life that had been brought into the world.

2 The Marriage Of Rogue And Gambit Showed That Love Conquered All

Gambit and Rogue wedding

Gambit and Rogue's relationship had a lot of ups and downs over the years. They had to triumph over a lot of adversity, including Rogue's powers, but they succeeded, their love conquering all. Their marriage was a spur-of-the-moment thing- Colossus and Kate Pryde's wedding had ended when Kate decided against it- and the two decided that since everyone was there, they might as well take advantage.

The trials and tribulations of Rogue and Gambit's life together and their eventual happy ending proved love conquered all and was a joyous day for the team.

1 The Marriage Of Cyclops And Jean Grey Was The Most Important X-Men Wedding

Jean Grey And Cyclops kiss after their marriage in Marvel Comics

Cyclops and Jean Grey were the foundational couple of the X-Men. Like any comic book relationship, they had their problems but they got through all of it and eventually got married. Pretty much everyone who wore an X on their costume was there and it was probably the happiest day in the team's history.

Cyclops and Jean were the first couple of mutantkind and their marriage represented something special that outshone all the resurrections and triumphs. It showed the simple power of love doing what it did best and a bond that proved nearly unbreakable. No bad guys attacked; no one caused any drama; it was just a day of pure celebration for the team.
