The official Twitter account for the upcoming Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy video game has confirmed that Adam Warlock will, in fact, be appearing as a character in the new game. This follows the release of the launch trailer for the game, which certainly appeared to hint that a mysterious character at the end of the trailer was, in fact, the equally mysterious Warlock, who was a central figure in Marvel's cosmic comic book adventures that eventually led to the introduction of the Guardians of the Galaxy. RELATED: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Launch Trailer Appears to Reveal Adam WarlockJust one day after Marvel Studios confirmed that Will Poulter will be playing Adam Warlock in the upcoming third Guardians of the Galaxy film, the launch trailer for the video game yesterday ended with a mysterious figure stating, "So, the shepherd's found fresh flock" and now, that mysterious figure is confirmed to be Adam Warlock, but even that confirmation comes with it some mystery, as the tweet wonders whether Warlock will be a friend, an enemy or a frenemy...

As soon as it was announced that the video game would feature The Universal Church of Truth as the primary antagonists, fans have wondered whether Warlock would also factor into the stories, as the Church was introduced in the pages of Jim Starlin's iconic run of Warlock in the 1970s, with the Universal Church of Truth being run by Magus, a twisted future evil version of Warlock.

The Universal Church of Truth was such a menace that Warlock actually teamed up with none other than Thanos to take down them down, so the Guardians are likely in for quite a fight in their new game.

After the reveal that Warlock would be in the game, a fan asked whether he will be actually part of the game as opposed to being featured in a post-credits scene. The Guardians Twitter account replied, "He's a key character in our game!"

Of course, the account also noted that "[t]here are things we haven't shown or mentioned at all" in the launch trailer, so there will be plenty of room for more twists and turns when the game officially launches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on Oct. 26.
