The Guardians of the Galaxy are a team of misfits put together by fate in the outer reaches of the universe. However, as time went on, these outsiders became a family, and the group turned into one of the most powerful superteams in Marvel Comics. Take a look at the success of the MCU movies based on the team and see how popular they became.

However, as with any group of misfits, the personality traits of these characters are not the brightest examples of happy and sane people. These are assassins, monsters, and tortured beings that only found a family in each other. With that in mind, here is a look at all the principal members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, ranked by their personality.

10 DRAX THE DESTROYER

Drax Ready To Fist Fight

Drax the Destroyer is hilarious in the movies. Dave Bautista plays him with the right touch of clueless humor to make him one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.

However, in the comic books, he is shown to be more of what he is, which is a stone-cold killer who will destroy anyone to get revenge. With that said, he is a loyal teammate who will fight for his friends and won't let anyone get the better of him.

9 NEBULA

You have to feel bad for Nebula. She is the opposite of her sister Gamora. While Thanos favored Gamora and trusted her as his favorite, even though she betrayed him by the end, Nebula wanted him to look at her the same way, and he wouldn't.

Instead, Thanos tortured Nebula and drove her to the brink of insanity. By the time Avengers: Endgame rolled around, she had softened and is on her way to becoming a whole person again.

8 GAMORA

Gamora is an intriguing member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and it will be interesting to see how James Gunn's third movie in the series treats her. When fans first met Gamora in the series, she was a daughter of Thanos who was planning a betrayal but was still, at heart, an assassin.

She developed into one of the more personable members of the group as she fell in love with Star-Lord, but Avengers: Endgame saw a return of a different Gamora. Will she move up this list again, or will her prior no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners character return with a vengeance?

7 YONDU

Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy

Yondu is one of those characters that was not what fans initially believed. First, this is based on his movie character in the MCU because the Yondu in the comic books was nothing like the Michael Rooker character. In the movies, Yondu seemed to be a selfish and self-centered Ravager.

That all changed in the second movie when he showed he cared about Peter and just wanted acceptance. He is a good guy, no matter what he wants people to think.

6 ROCKET RACCOON

Rocket Raccoon has every reason to hate everyone in the entire universe. He was created as an experiment and tortured, poked, and prodded. He has no problem letting that pent up anger boil over and drive him to do anything to hurt others around him.

With that said, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 showed, Rocket is also someone who hides a lot under that tough exterior. He truly cared for Groot and showed he had it in him to find a strong relationship with Yondu as well. Rocket is loyal to his friends no matter what he says.

5 NOVA

A feature of the Marvel superhero Richard Rider/Nova.

Richard Ryder is Nova, and he has been a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comic books. For those who don't know, Ryder is from Earth. The Nova Corps brought him in as a soldier, and while the Corps made an appearance in the MCU, Ryder has not debuted yet.

He is a very personable person, though, comparable in many ways to a cosmic Spider-Man when he started. Over time, he became more of a military man in his later years, one of the universe's most powerful protectors.

4 GROOT

While fans can't understand anything Groot says, it is clear that when people get close to him, they can understand what he is saying even though it always sounds like "I am Groot."

He is someone who is caring for those around him and, as he showed in the first MCU Guardians of the Galaxy movie, was not below sacrificing himself to save all those he loved. Even as a spoiled kid, Groot stood up and became a hero when the time came.

3 MANTIS

The entire basis of Mantis' powers is empathy. Ego was a giant planet that could consume everything and destroy all those around him. He kept Mantis around because she was the only person who could bring him peace and allow him to sleep.

She is someone who shows sincere care and concern for those around her and will do anything to help someone feel good. Her only downfall is her perceived innocence.

2 STAR-LORD

There is a reason that Star-Lord is the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He is rambunctious and has an almost childlike excitement for adventure. In the MCU, he is the man who helps hold the entire team together through his optimism and determination.

He can get people to follow him by just talking, although he can also cause people to want to shoot him for the same mouth.

1 THOR

Is Thor a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy? Well, at the end of Avengers: Endgame, he left with the team for adventures, so it is clear that he was a member for at least a short time before the next movies arrive. With that in mind, there are few men in the MCU that have a bigger personality than Thor.

He can win people over with a smile and is easily the most charismatic member of The Avengers. That makes him a shoo-in for the Guardians of the Galaxy member with the best personality.
