The Mighty Thor debuts a new Phoenix Force superpower tied to his birth in Avengers Assemble: Omega.

At one point during the battle, a massive dam holding back dark power bursts open and threatens to erase all space and time. Needing to stop the waters, Thor rushes to aid Echo, Old Man Phoenix and Firehair, the first human host of the Phoenix Force who also played a major role in Thor's recently redefined origin story. He then debuts a powerful Phoenix Fire blast erupting from his body and exploding through his hammer which successfully draws the dark power back. "The fire breathed into me the day I was born!" Thor calls out. "By my mother! The fire of the Mighty Thor! Son of the Thunderbird!"

Thor's Phoenix Force Connection Explained

While Thor isn't an official host of the Phoenix Force, 2022's Avengers 1,000,000 BC (2022) #1 (by Aaron, Kev Walker, Dean White and Petit) explained his connection to the cosmic entity. Avengers 1,000,000 BC (2022) #1 revealed Odin once had a romantic with Firehair (who also calls herself Lady Phoenix), who then went on to form the Prehistoric Avengers. Years later, Odin and Firehair's relationship had fizzled out and Odin married Gaea, who gave birth to Thor. Moments after his birth, however, Thor was very nearly killed by Frost Giants but was then saved by Firehair, who swooped in and breathed some of her fire into his lungs.
