Marvel Future Fight's latest update will bring new X-Men skins to the game, with a handful of fan-favorite characters gaining access to their Dawn of X costumes. Fellow mutant, occasional X-Men ally and constant irritant Deadpool is also getting updated skins to celebrate a big milestone -- his 30th anniversary.

Now that details of the Marvel Future Fight Dawn of X update have been revealed, here's what players need to know about what's being added and how each addition is rooted in the Marvel Universe.

Dawn of X Skins in Marvel Future Fight

Kid Cable Light of Galador Sword

The teenage version of Cable is likely to be the most jarring skin for people who haven't been keeping up with the comics in the last few years. Kid Cable killed and replaced his older self in 2012's Extermination crossover event, but his new Marvel Future Fight costume comes from the recent X of Swords crossover.

Kid Cable has become a part of the team and member of the Summers family. Like his older self, he's been a member of a number teams, including the Fallen Angels and S.W.O.R.D. He's even teamed up with Cable's old partner, Deadpool.

Rogue and Gambit's new skins come from the southern fried power couple's memberships in the current incarnation of Excalibur. While Gambit's just changed his costume, Rogue received a power boost from Apocalypse early in the series' run. She even briefly had Apocalypse's trademark blue skin, though she won't be sporting that as part of her new look.

X-23's skin comes from her time as the title character of the All-New Wolverine series. She took on the Wolverine codename following Logan's death. While she was ultimately just keeping the mantle warm for his inevitable return, she did so well in the role that some fans consider her the better Wolverine. Logan himself agrees that she at least deserves to share the codename with him.

Deadpool's two skins are part of his 30th anniversary celebration. They're pinstriped suits that make the Merc With a Mouth look like he should be appearing in a gangster simulator instead of superhero game. He even has a thematically appropriate attack where he shoots a Tommy gun while driving an antique car.

Quality of Life Improvements in Marvel Future Fight

The update is also bringing some quality of life updates to Future Fight. Players can now use Clear Tickets to upgrade Uniform XP, and the Alliance Conquest and Timeline Battle modes are receiving improvements -- including a New York City themed conquest area. Higher level leagues for both modes have been added, and xclusive rules and functions have been added to the 'Challenger' league for specialized battles.

Multiple characters will receive updates: Deathlok, Lincoln Campbell, Lash, Blue Marvel, America Chavez, Anti-Man and new Guardian of the Galaxy Avril (Quasar) Kincaid will have their "Realize Potential" function updated.

The X-Men are also getting gameplay updates, in addition to their new threads. The "Awaken Potential" function has been updated for Gambit, X-23 and Nightcrawler, and new Awaken Skills have been added to their repertoires. Cable will now be upgradable to Tier-3 and have new ultimate skills to go along with his new look.

It's always nice to be reminded that the X-Men can be part of Marvel's multimedia projects after years of being shut out, especially since this update isn't as problematic as Netmarble's last attempt to add X-Men content to the game. It's a solid addition to a game that's been a bright spot compared to the struggling Marvel's Avengers.
