Marvel fans can enjoy 'Avengers Interactive Ramen,' if they're lucky

Ippudo, New York City's premier ramen shop, will open the doors of its secret second-floor Ramen Bar for two days this week for an official, one-of-a-kind Marvel pop-up.

Held Thursday and Friday at Ippudo Westside (321 W. 51st St.), the even will feature Ramen Master Fumihiro Kanegae's newest creation, "The Avengers Interactive Ramen." There's a catch, however: Just 40 bowls will be served at 5 p.m. each day, meaning it's a pretty exclusive meal.

But those lucky enough to get a seat, and a bowl, will receive special collaboration T-shirt designed by artist Matt Waite. Each bowl of ramen also will be served with beverages selected and paired by Chizuko Niikawa-Helton of Sake Discoveries. Other surprises are promised during the seating.

“As one of Marvel’s biggest fans, I could not be more excited to honor Marvel’s Avengers in the form of ramen," Kanegae' said in a statement. "I’ve had to carefully consider each character’s powers and personalities in order to select the appropriate ingredients to blend in our bowls. Now, if only Marvel will lend me Iron Man’s armor to wear while cooking both nights!”
