Some skillfully rendered new crossover fan art perfectly portrays Henry Cavill as the Marvel Cinematic Universes' Captain Britain.

Posted by digital artist Subi Ozil on Instagram, the image shows Cavill dressed as Captain Britain and wielding the Sword of Might, also known as Excalibur. It has long been rumored that Cavill will join the MCU, with many fans expressing their desire to see him portray heroes like Captain Britain, Hyperion or Wonder Man. Although Cavill is no stranger to the superhero genre, there hasn't yet been any word about him being cast in a Marvel project.

Cavill is perhaps best known for playing Superman in 2013's Man of Steel, 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2017's Justice League and 2021's Zack Snyder's Justice League. While many fans would be thrilled to see him join the MCU, industry insiders have no doubt that Cavill will be returning as Superman in future DC projects. Twitter insider @AjepArts recently said, "Multiple scoopers 100% believe Henry is back, the dm I received said '[Cavill's] back[.]' This friend who told me this I trust very well, and has ALWAYS been skeptical over Cavill and Affleck returning. They are now believing into the idea of [Cavill's] return." The insider added that "the tides are changing" at Warner Bros. Discovery.

Cavill's Stacked Agenda

Amidst all these rumors, Cavill has maintained a busy schedule working on other projects. While not officially confirmed by the streaming service, it was recently reported that Netflix has greenlit Seasons 4 and 5 of The Witcher, which will be filming back-to-back. Season 3 of The Witcher, which will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski's novel Time of Contempt, recently wrapped filming. Additionally, Cavill will also be reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes in the Netflix original movie Enola Holmes 2.

In addition to joining (or rejoining) several superhero franchises, Cavill is also heavily rumored to play the next James Bond. Cavill reportedly now leads bookmakers' odds on who will play 007 in the next James Bond film, surpassing fellow Netflix star Regé-Jean Page. Cavill has an implied probability of 27.26% to play the iconic character, while Page has an implied probability of 18.73%. Actors Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and James Norton join them in the top five most likely to play Bond.

Cavill can next be seen in Enola Holmes 2, premiering on Netflix on Nov. 4.
