The Mad Titan Thanos is set to play a major role in Kieron Gillen and Esad Ribić's Eternals relaunch, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe villain battling Ikaris in Eternals #2.

Thanos recently returned from the dead in Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw's Guardians of the Galaxy #6. However, this isn't the same Thanos that readers are most familiar with. The Mad Titan was revived using the body of his brother, Eros aka Starfox. Guardians' Star-Lord and Gamora were able to stop the transfer process midway, leaving Thanos a walking zombie. What state Eternals #2 shows Thanos remains to be seen. The villain was originally killed by Gamora in the Marvel event series, Infinity Wars.
