When Marvel's The Eternals began shooting, several pre-production elements were reportedly incomplete, including the script, parts of the set and several costumes.

Filming on Eternals began in Feb. 2020 with a release date planned for Nov. this year. According to The Direct, several pre-production elements had to be sped up to begin filming on time. While parts of Eternals were seemingly rushed to meet its release date, the film's premiere was eventually delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Marvel's Black Widow took Eternals' original Nov. 6 release date, with the latter receiving a new premiere date of Feb. 12, 2021. Some of the post-production visual effects work on Eternals will be completed remotely.

Much of Eternals' plot remain unclear, but it will showcase the titular group of super-powered begins protecting Earth from the Deviants. Additionally, several interesting characters from Marvel Comics are rumored to appear in the film, including the villain Kro and Namor the Sub-Mariner. However, neither of these characters have been officially confirmed.

Eternals began development in 2018, as was announced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. The film is based on characters created by legendary comic creator Jack Kirby.

Directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, The Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Gemma Chan as Sersi and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight.
